I have seem some references to a light in the interior of the trunk of a GT350.  However i am not sure if that is the actual fact.
Does anyone know if this was an accessory and of so how was it set up?

The 69/70 GT35/500 should have a trunk light. It is a regular Mustang part.

There is a small rectangular cutout in the trunk lid.  The power wire is fished down through the innerstructure of the trunklid.

My 1970 Mach, it screws in to the hole Bob mentioned, it is recessed.  The wire runs down the drivers side inside the trunk like support sheet metal.  Then there is some slack at the trunk opening and it runs to the driver side rear wheel arch.  I can't remember after that.  But it winds up connected under the drivers side sill plate.  It also has a weight in it so it is OFF when the trunk is closed.  It comes on as the weight shifts inside the bulb housing and turns on the lamp.   I think as you slowly move the lamp unit you will feel a slight "thunk".

I am looking for a better picture but until then here is one . Your can see the trunk light bracket with screw to the left of the trunk catch. At least that shows you where the opening is. The picture  is from a convertible but hopefully give you a general idea.

The trunk light and wiring were installed before the 2 halves of the trunk lid were bonded together. Then the bullet end of the trunk lid was taped to the underside of the deck lid and the lid was painted. Therefor you would have paint on your wiring looms and IIRC also on the trunk light bracket as see in Mr. Gaines' pic of the white decklid. So original cars would have an unpainted spot generally on the underside of the lid where the bullet end was taped.

For those reading and wondering how to fish the wire through I have a way that has worked for me. I used a electricians fish tape to go through the innerstructuce from the bottom and tapped the trunklight wire to the fish tape and pulled it through. There are other ways but that is what I did on numerous occasions .

How is the light grounded is the deck is fiberglass?  The light assembly in the previous posting only shows a single wire.

Convert has a separate ground. Fastback doesn't need one because the innerstructure is different. It depends on which that you are working on.

The picture I posted in reply #6 if you can see if you look closely yo the ground wire terminal under the screw head holding the light bracket on the convertible trunklid.
