Hello,

I have what I think is a reproduction of the original R model seat in fiberglass. The mounting frame is glassed onto the seat itself. Before I go pulling my current standard seat out of the car, I was wanting to know if these R model seats are designed to work with the factory seat sliders or if fabrication is required?

I have mine on factory sliders. I don't remember having to fabricate anything special but that was 25 years ago when I did it. I'll look at it again tomorrow to refresh my memory.

I double checked to confirm that my memory was correct and found the R model bucket frame was bolted to the regular Mustang seat tracks in my car like I thought.

Fantastic, thanks for checking and confirming Bob. Do you have one of the original 36 R models? If so I have many more questions!

If you are trying to build a clone/knockoff/replica/? you should contact Craig Conley at Paradise Wheels - he made some repro parts. Or give OVC (Original Venice Crew) a ring. Jim Murietta is building continuation R Models and has not only new built original type parts (some made on the original tooling) but the ones that had been proposed for the ultimate R Model - different hood, rear window, front valance (all designed by Pete Brock back in the day but not used) even an IRS that was tried but deemed an unnecessary expense since they were winning without it.
