In my opinion it would of been nice to tread both top and bottom of the bar with a 1/2 full threaded tee and using a larger buckle. I'm sure at the time they went with what was available. More choices for today.

Received the 4 adjustable bag straps and 4 of the shoulder covers that will help hold the board down without the strap scratching up the board. Still working forward, May change up larger size to 1/2 Tee since I want it for a purpose for showing with the board. No I do not surf but like the look. Never seen one at a show.

Going to build a 67 Shelby convertible mod, I use to own one at one time and plan to build a better one.

My plan is to give each grandson a convertible down the road. Teach them about classics to get this generation interested. As you can see in the last picture I started with pedal cars. LOL

68 mustang GT/CS convert mod is my current car.

Similar to picture. But I think a 7ft board would look better then the 6ft.

Ground off the bolt head down to a thin top but not all the way so it goes through the washer. Once the tig welding starts the washer and tee can all be welding together. Just Ordered the Duck-Mouth stainless steel buckles. Ordered them through AliExpress. Only cost .99 cents. 1 inch wide and 3/4 to 1 inch tall buckle part. Currently drilling holes in the tees to install the buckles when they arrive.

I filed the burrs off on the back so the washer could rest tight. Using a nut i can level out the washer before welding.

I now know the center to center measurement is 32 3/8 for the surfboard mounts but since my car will not be original I did 24 inch to better secure the board so not to slide side to side.

First attempt on the right failed, ground off bolt head was to thin. So the welder came up with stamping out a washer to exact thread in stainless little thicker at 7/8 wide and used thread all and cut off to 1 inch. Use tig at lowest setting and thin wire. Picture to the left. Buff when done and to keep the washer straight and flat use a 1/4 20 nut to level out and use anti seize on the thread for the nut. Wire brush threads after you take the nut off.

Buckle still on it's way.

Installed the 1 inch wide 1/2 tall buckle to see how it would look. As soon as the 3/4 wide 3/4 tall one comes in I will install in the other one and show comparison.

For the small box latch buckle, the size of the buckle is 3/4 x 3/4. The actual size in the second picture on left is not 2 inch wide but 1 inch wide and 1/2 inch tall. To the right is the 3/4 x 3/4. Neither are the same size as the original at 1 inch wide and 3/4 tall. Up to you on which size to us when building a pair. I have extra buckles of the 1 inch by 1/2 if you want a couple to try and like the look.

As for me I found these at Walmart online and like the look. They were $3.00 each. Since my car will be a mod.

Working getting a 7ft surfboard now. Will post final look with the board when I am able.

Hope everyone enjoyed the journey of this posting so far.
