Hi all,

With sadness, Phil Severance has passed away June 19.  Phil was a big part helping members restoring tachometers.  He had restored several tach's for me. He was away very friendly and helpful when I talked to him.  He will be missed.  RIP

I just heard this from his wife. So sad. Of course he was phenomenal at his trade but his greatest attribute was he was one of the most pleasant people I have ever known

Phil has done 6 tachs for me. Phenomenal quality work. God speed Phil. We will miss your skills and personality.

The last time I spoke with him was when he called me about 2 weeks ago.

He has had an apprentice/intern working with him for a couple of years, and he has been teaching him the trade.

From what I was told, his student is in his 30's and is the son of one of his car restoration friends. He had no interest in following in his father's footsteps, but he has a passion for gauges. Phil said he is giving his knowledge and business to him.

RIP Phil.

Sad to hear, he's been a big help on several 65-66 gauges.

I was aware of his health issues as work progressed on my 4 tach's over the past  year.I had thought he was on the mend based on our conversations. He was such a genuinely nice man to a fault. I was extremely surprised yesterday when a friend shared his obituary. We have lost another good one.RIP

Like Bob I am surprised and saddened by the news. He did 2 gauges for me and we exchanged emails in April when he sounded on the mend.
Really sorry to hear.

This is very sad news.  Phil was a very nice guy and excellent at his craft.  He will be missed immensely.  RIP Phil.

Here are a few photos taken by Fred Gehring August 31, 2021 when we had Phil restore a couple 1966 GT350 tachometers for us.

The most honest, knowledgeable and definitely the nicest person I have dealt with in the car hobby.  In fact,  one of the nicest human beings I have ever encountered.
RIP Phil

Just found this

I am saddened

Absolute diamond of a person

I would fly to America to see my dad and mail my tachometers to him. He would endeavour to send them back to me before I flew back to England

3 Tachs and a Dodge Challenger dash were expertly restored to like new condition by Phil

RIP to a wonderful and talented human
