Rupps Auction came to Tallahassee this past May 21st. and a White 1966 Tiger was entered in it.  It only bided up to $35,000.  I was shocked, I thought for sure it would hit $75,000 but nope.  Yours is really nice.

Thanks, I know someone "on the ground" during the auction, the car while clean and polished on the outside, did not show well otherwise. Plus it did not have a "TAC" done, something every Tiger owner should do.

This picture of the engine compartment tells part of that tale where just the correct air cleaner assembly is a $800-$1,100 item

As for mine it's just a poor mans cobra, just as much fun, at a fraction of the price  ;D

Shelby did design the improvements/modifications to the Sunbeam Alpine to create the Tiger, but Chrysler Corp actually did not have their hands in the Sunbeam portion of the Roots automotive group till mid year 1966 during the 67 model year change over is when the Chrysler emblem started to show up on the new 67 Tigers being exported to the US.

Chrysler bought 30% of Rootes in 1964 and took over completely by 1967 - total cost 93 million.
Rootes was struggling to survive and was hemorrhaging 9+ million a year. Chrysler was looking to add some little cheap imports to the showroom and the Tiger was the bait.
Ken Miles did the first swap - a quicky with SB and auto to see if it would work. SA took on the details of making the swap fit into a production environment. Lew Spencer and Ken Miles had both been racing factory Alpines so they were the natural go-to guys.
