Radial Speedways

It's been a while since I've looked into this subject, but what are most people doing to simulate the look of either large or small lettered Speedways for the '67s (heck and '68's technically) on a much better driving radial tire than the bias ply tires currently offered?  I remember hearing some people had taken Avons and added 'Tire Tatoos' to mimic the letters.  Anyone currently selling them?

Yes . Just google tire lettering. They bond well to the rubber tire but for best look you have to grind off the factory tire lettering so you can apply to a smooth surface.

Tire lettering sellers are all over the internet. Do not depend on them to know what you need for a vintage tire. You have to spend the time to do your own research on application wording,size etc.I am not aware of a one click stop.

Frankly I am not the best source for up to date alternatives to the F 60 15 bias ply because I have not been looking. I am sure a new thread on that specific tire size will get some good intel from this group.

Yes CSX2259 is a forum member and has been doing the tire lettering for years . All of the work I have seen has been superior.He has got the process well figured out.

If you contact TireStickers.com they should still have the digitized file they made off the template I made from a vintage polyglass Goodyear with 3/4" letter.

reference TireSticker order number 313106 placed on December 2, 2022 to help them locate their digitized file.

Thanks guys, the thought of driving any real distance on bias ply-s is pretty scary to me.

Back in the day, most of us used haul a** on bias Ply tires. Have they gotten worse or people just don't know how to drive like the old days?

Yep Remember one family trip from Calif to Michigan and back on repo bias ply tires in the 70's. Just what you did. But then again a lot of people cant imagine driving in cars with no seat belts, sitting in the bed of a truck at speed and other normal everyday things of the past. Can't remember the first time we raced on radial tires.
