Would the oil cooler filter adapter be painted engine color?

Has anyone found a source for the gasket?

Thanks, Pat

It was not painted with the engine. I typically modify my own starting with a typical black gasket. Many original are now too brittle to work with.

My gasket is still somewhat soft but would like to get a new one if possible...

Great then it can serve as a good pattern.

My posts were in regards to the Ford oil filter adapter however the same applies to using your original as a pattern to make another.  No one I am aware reproduces this part. It shouldn't be too hard to find a similar material to make a gasket from. You will just have to think outside the box.

We've had this discussion before. The answers are the same.

Where exactly the source of that gasket is from,  no one seems to know.

You could take a better detailed picture of it and post it on the Google photo search engine of "what is this?"

Maybe you will get lucky and discover where it was sourced from? It has to be some sort of an industrial application but the Ford parts book remarks "sourced from Fram" along with a number that no longer crosses to anything.

I ordered a couple of different flat o-rings so I will see how they fit.

Thanks, Pat

I got a R-333 square O-ring that is 2 1/2" I.D. 2 7/8" O.D. and 3/16" cross section. It fits in the groove very well. Looks like it should work.

The adapter looks a lot like the adapter used on 80's cop cars. Maybe a gasket could be found searching that option?
