SNAKE Emblem Wanted

Looking to purchase a 1969-70 Snake emblem with these numbers (2508-A visible) on the back.

The orange backed Snake photo is from an eBay listing (not current) - the NPD ad shows the entire number.

I have no idea if the NPD Snake had those numbers on the back, but the eBay photo shows that it does exist.

Will purchase outright or have other Snakes to trade, let me know what you have.

This is the curved snake that I still have left.

Thanks for chiming in ^^^ Pete and Roy. I actually purchased THAT Snake in THAT eBay listing earlier this year, and what I received is not what was advertised. I was issued a refund.

Both examples above are different Snakes than my original request, so the search continues . . .

Thanks again,

Keith, what is so special about that Numbered snake? We've talked before, but I don't remember what is special about that Particular one.

Well Roy, I don't actually know! That's why I'd like to acquire one to compare it to other Snakes that I am familiar with.

All I DO know is that that 2508-A (etc.) Engineering number is on a Shelby Automotive Inc. engineering blueprint that was posted on this forum in a previous discussion about Snake emblems, that vendors such as NPD & Scott Drake have advertised them using that number, and that I have seen photos online of an eBay vendor who had one listed for sale. That's the one that I immediately ordered, but when I received it it was a completely different version of a reproduction Snake that had NO casting number on it.

They must have been available at some point in time, I'm just hoping I can run across someone who bought one and would consider selling it now.

Just so I can learn what I don't know about it!

If I remember, I will go out and pop out the little green piece to see what the numbers are underneath the one that I have. Hopefully it's the one you're looking for and you can end your chase.

Well, as it's in a 16228-A labeled / sealed bag, I strongly suspect that is what you would see under there if the little green piece was removed. So don't do it just on my behalf, I would feel bad if you ruined the bag and altered a green back Snake adhesive cover as it is apparently the last one you have. But Thank You for your generous offer!

NOW though, if you are as curious and determined as I am, well - all bets are off then!

Thanks again,

I have 2 of the 16228-A, used. I realize that is not what you are looking for. The only place I remember seeing an orange backing, was on a 1970 Torino cobra grill. Have seen some with the Cobra on the grill and some without. ???

SFM66H

Thanks. The orange "backing" you mentioned on a 1970 Torino Cobra Snake emblem is incorrect though.

On the 1971 (only) Torino Cobra, there was a Snake emblem in the center of the grille and in the center of the rear panel that was very unique. That Snake had an extended RING that was cast onto the backside of its perimeter contour which was painted orange!

There's a couple of those on eBay now for $350 - $500!!

Sorry, but it is a 228 A
