When I was diagnosed with renal carcinoma 6 years ago, two members of this forum were incredibly supportive as I navigated my way through the entire ordeal, Woody Woodroff and Van.  Both of them were dealing with a bleaker prognosis then I, but both were far more concerned with my well being than their own.

Van will surely be missed, along with Woody and all the other good people taken by this awful disease.

God Bless Van

RIP to Van.  He had indicated to me he had recently sold his Ford GT.  May he be driving at speed in the next realm that awaits.

Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

Van was a true car enthusiast. An honest guy who wasn't afraid to call things as he saw them. Sounds a lot like Kiwi,... no wonder they were such good friends.
.....
I had the pleasure of meeting him and spending the day w/him @ SAAC 12 years ago in California. Kiwi and I had driven to the show with one of my kids.
........
Van had been sick for about three years. I think the last time we communicated was last summer.
The prognosis was dire, but nonetheless he had just rented Willow Springs for the day 2 enjoy-with some of his old car buddies. He brought his Ford GT and something Italian. He pushed them so hard that one of them spun.
.......
This is how long it took to put some of this into words.
.......
I never wanted to have to write all this, but there is.....
RIP Van
