To celebrate the films' 50th anniversary, fathomevents.com  is showing American Graffiti in theatres around the country on August 27 and 30.  For theatres and showtimes, go to fathom events.com.  This Sunday, August 13, and this Wednesday, August 16, they are showing Enter the Dragon.  Coming up in October are showings of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, The Exorcist, and Christine, in September.

We've gone to several of these. The best was Grand Prix in it's original Cinerama (we also saw How The West Was Won in that format) at the dome in Hwood.
We also saw Bullitt on the big screen for its 50th - my wife hadn't seen it in the theatre originally and she said she was getting car sick during the chase.

My memory of American Graffitti at the theatre was when Ron Howard moved in on Cindy Williams someone yelled out Go Opie......
