Maybe they will reconsider now.  Tell them you could have put out your own fire.

Sadly, we have seen this story over and over again. A car owner is out "shopping around" for automobile insurance and gets quotes from different companies. The insurance agent wants to make a sale so he offers "stripped down" coverage in order to offer a very low premium. The price sounds great to the car owner, so they purchase the "stripped down" insurance. Not long afterwards, the person is in a serious car accident and they discover that their insurance coverage is not very good.

Never skimp on insurance my 3 cents worth

My quote is with the same exact coverage I have now. For most of us insurance shopping isn't our first rodeo-especially with 6 figure cars.

We've had Heacock for over 30 years.  Keep in mind that Heacock is a broker. They will find the best insurer for you, depending on what you have to insure and where you're located. Hagerty seems to be trying their best to monopolize the car collector insurance market.  They're sponsoring all levels of car shows, tours, big advertising campaigns, videos, etc. All that costs big bucks and it seems to be reflected in their high premiums. I'm not so sure their intensions are in our best interests.

Yes Hagerty is trying to monopolize the industry. Big Wall St money. They have been buying up big events like Amelia Concours and others etc
They want to own everything car related.
They own Broad Arrow Auction house too

Thanks for more insight on Hagerty, Guys. I'm dealing with Heacock and ,yes, American Modern  is what the quote is on so they must be the company of choice for Mi. Hagerty fought me for years on cancelling my collision for the winter. I gave up last year on fighting them. They claim my premiums reflect that I don't drive my car 7-8 months out of the year compared to say a Floridian. Horse bleep!. I'm finalizing or should I say getting more clarity on everything then I'm switching before my policy is up on July 1. So do Floridians pay a LOT more that 1525 to drive 2 vehicles insured for 240K year round? I doubt it. Hey, my claims experience is A+++++ but I'm tired of insurance costs for all my cars and home each year.

Hagerty also owns Broad Arrow Group (auctions, collectors garage and capital). Seems rather insideous to me.

Meaning: Better buy one now.

Don't know how or where to buy one?  Simply check out our Hagerty auctions online, or great cars at the auction houses we also own!

In other words: Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

It's big business now. No longer a mom & dad company.  Sad turn of events, IMO.

I didn't have a noticeable increase in premiums with heacock/American modern after I moved from Pennsylvania to Florida.  I live in a hurricane zone but never had a claim in 14 years

You know how fast a tanker can go?
Safest insurance risk in the world?

I will say I drove from North Ga to north Fla in a car rally and beat 11 cars in it.....

I called Heacock to see about insuring my 1995 F250 because I know that Auto Owners will beat me up if it gets in a wreck. Heacock wouldn't insure it for two reasons - it's not "collectable" according to them and they won't cover it at all if I pull a trailer.  :(

Unfortunately had to submit a claim to Hagerty not to long ago.  Fortunately it wasn't the Shelby.  Hagerty was excellent and took care of me with zero hassles.

shelbymann1970

Bottom line?  I had 160K on my Shelby and 80K on my Mach1. 1524.80 for one year with Hagerty on my renewal at the end of this month. This accounts the matching of my Mi mandated fees.
Heacock(American Casualty) was 725.00 for SAME coverage. I bumped up my Shelby to 180K and now it was 762.00 for my 1 year of exact coverage(other than the 20K bump up) so just about half of Hagerty(80 cents).
So if was a no brainer here changing to Heacock. Gary

Seems kinda funny, but I can't seem to easily find a list of the companies that are now included in the same ownership as "American Collectors Insurance".
Heacock and Condon-Skelly are included, I think that there is at least one more(?)

I've had Condon-Skelly since 1985... back when a nearby location was important - I could drive over there on my lunch break with the needed photos.
One claim a while back, I was treated very well and they had no issues making sure it was fixed right.

My friend who lives by me has a 71 Boss 351 and a 70 Gt500 vert that he has about the same coverage as me with Hagerty. His bill is due in a few weeks and he thought his cost was around 1350. He is going to look at it and get a quote from Heacock to see.
