Thank you , it was fun looking back after all those years , I do think it was the best convention ever , what surprises me is that more people on this site didn't comment , I'll bet some of them did attend ? Maybe just a different crowd nowadays I guess ?

The cars look mostly the same, but all the participants look a lot younger.  LOL

These are now "vintage" photographs.  In my mines eye, "Vintage" is the 40's and 50",  not the 80's.

Thanks for sharing

Very cool. A bunch of friends (who were a bit older than me) were at SAAC-5 (and took 5S071 to run at Utica). One of the guys took probably 200 photos there, unfortunately all slides. Those slides were just further motivation to get a Shelby (which took me a couple more years). We did eventually get to Dearborn (SAAC-15 in 1990). Was pretty awesome too. Thanks for sharing.

I was there. I drove down from Toronto and stayed in the residence at the University of Windsor because I couldn't afford a hotel. It literally changed my life. And I've been a member of SAAC ever since.

98SVT - was 06GT

If my old memory serves me Ford brought a prototype Escort and displayed it in the lobby before dinner. Nice looking BRG with yellow pinstripe and MiniLitish wheels. Kopec figured he'd have some fun with the Ford exec who was speaking and announce that the car was to be raffled off. He drew a ticket and announced the holder of #427 had won the car. Lynn Park had the ticket and had been in on the joke.
