T code or when Candy Apple Red really isn't

Ford really tries confuses us .....

Take a look at the paint chart for 1969 colors.

Ford shows "T" candy apply red

What I know as Candy Apple Red is just like a candy apple you purchase at a carnival or fair.

A translucent red that's pretty involved to prepare and apply.

To apply candy apple red paint to a car, you must first prepare the surface, then apply a silver or gold metallic base coat, followed by several transparent candy apple red coats, and finally, a protective clear coat.

The candy red is  transparent that allows the metallic base coat to show through.

Like picture number one, that is a true candy apple paint job.

Now some believe that competition red color is RED, but definitely it is not.

That's the car in  illustration two

To me it's a ORANGE, PINK, SALMON, BLUSH or what other name you can find on the chart

But definitely not RED

Then we come to the T paint code or as Ford calls it candy apple red should just be plain RED.

So it should be the real candy apple red,  the pinks and the real red.
