Collector reducers size

I looked more closely at the side exhaust on my Hertz and see that there are two collector pipes that bolt to the tri-Y ceramic coated headers I have on the car.  The pipe on the driver's side is damaged, and it would appear that the collectors then connect to the side exhaust kit I have on the car and are tightened down by clamps.  The side exiting exhaust is 2.25 inches.  What size collector do I need to replace the damaged one?  Would it be a 2.5-inch collector that reduces to 2.25 inches?  Google isn't much help.  If I can find the right collector, I don't need to replace the whole side exhaust on the driver's side as I previously surmised, only the collector and gasket.

Or maybe I should have them exit out the front fenders.  Like a gasser.  Kidding.

Working with older muffler pipes is a crap shoot. That is if you have to weld on them.
 So, do you have to replace the header collector?  If so I suggest looking into a ball-flange arrangement so there is no gasket between the end of the collector and the exhaust pipe. This is one of those "have to see it" moments. Try to post a couple of photos.

I have extra 3" ball flanges from FPA if needed

stop racking your brain

The exhaust genie has your answer;

Take it to a reputable muffler shop and let them sort it out.

Your time, effort, frustration and bloody knuckles just isn't worth it.

Let your American Express do all the heavy lifting.

Remember you have a J.D. not a mufflerolegist diploma.

Just a suggestion,
Check out Scott Fuller Reproductions. Unmatched quality and attention to detail.
Hope this helps.

Here are some photos. The side exhaust started to hang low just after the glass pack and right where the bend occurs where it goes out the side. The exhaust had twisted at the collector causing it to move up and down at the rear where it bends. I had a shop weld the collector at the spot where the flange connects to the tri-Y. I am not certain whether the collector locks in place and broke at the flange or somehow loosened.  You can see some of the welding slag. If I can save the rest of that exhaust I will. Problem is only at the flange/ collector.
