Imitation is flattering, however you will always be cast as a wannabe. Start with your own 1965 fastback, change the wheelbase, don't change the wheel base, build a long nose car, don't build a long nose car. Build a car like the fiberglass car HM did with a tube frame, but own it...change the suspension for a more modern design, go with a better transmission, use an older engine for the vibe. Name the car something original, paint it like you want. That's more real.

I guess my 1960 Thunderbird could be considered an AF/X Car.  It's shortened almost 3 Feet.

Yes, that is the plan. I won't be re-creating one that already exists, or that existed, but creating something new based on the styling of these cars. Big fat rear tires, teardrop hood scoop, loud, choppy big block motor, etc.

Love those original AMF cars and the Tycos aren't bad either

Best of luck on your search !

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.

Quote from: JohnSlack on July 28, 2025, 05:37:58 PMI saw that car when Parnelli Jones had it in his collection. Great car....never make it to Cars N' Coffee however.
He didn't mention if he wanted something streetable. Lots of nostalgia drag race events to have fun at.

That's really cool but I do in fact want something street legal.

Build a 67/68 as a 68 Cobra Jet - easier to get FE HP under the hood. Of course using a Mustang II suspension in a 65/6 will free up enough room for a cammer. https://totalcontrolproducts.com/mustang-65-66.html
