If I recall from the book Shelby's wildlife, the race cars could top 190mph.

FWIW, I wouldn't rely on anything written in that book or any book/article written by Wally Wyss as being fact.

After thumbing through the book I realized that wasn't where I read that. But I did read in some book that escapes me right now the 427 Roadster race cars could top 190 mph. Obviously with the right gearing.
