Fastback had the grained texture and convertible was smooth. Both were the semigloss black. Of course the early production cars had a spray on texture instead of the made into the panel grain effect for the rear panel and endcap.

This is what I am up against. When I purchased this in 91 you can see PO painted car red. When I had it repainted the inside of the decklid texture was sanded smooth and so were the inner side of the end caps. Anyone ever find a way to recreate the texture for
1) inner flat surface of the decklid
2) texture/grain on the end caps

At least for the end caps grain texture I have seen others replicate the grain by using a piece of grained vinyl material and use it press into a skim coal of bondo. Sounds easier then it is however I saw it done. I understand that it takes practice to get it right given the time sensitive nature of activated bondo.
