I was quickly reminded of how important the history of the car is after watching the first five minutes of this video.

Just think you cant always see the "before" damage on most Shelbys and a good number of them have also been rusty.

I can not imagine anyone buying a car sight unseen.

There was a news report recently talking about stolen vehicles being used for parts to fix salvage ones like this or upgrade a base version to a higher end version.  Maybe that truck had something like that done.

If it was heavily discounted for being salvaged, then maybe it works out from a utilitarian perspective even considering the previous damage.  Although, the cost differentiation may get burned down from having to do unique repairs caused by the damage... like all the electrical gremlins and other issues related to misalignment and such.

Thanks for posting, certainly is an eye-opener and should be a warning to all.  Get a PPI before buying any used vehicle.

Watching that Video made me think of the original 1974 "Gone In 60 Seconds" Movie and that Red Challenger at the beginning.  They bought a wrecked Red Challenger and Stole the Twin to it and swapped the VIN's over.

About 15 years ago my brother took a job in Florida managing a collision shop that specialized in high end cars.  They would get a customers that smacked up their high dollar cars and within a week or two all the parts would show up.  At first he figured there were enough out there that owners didn't know how to drive or flood damaged.  He soon realized the owner was running a chop shop across the state and they were stealing to order for damaged cars. He left and moved back to NY.

Any used car has a history these days. with new trucks in the 80-100k $ price range there is alot of room to fix 40K worth of damage . and still make money . And carfax is a joke  because it can be fixed under the radar and never show up  on carfax. same with shelbys if it sounds too good to be true it is .

When I took out two doors on my car, they wanted to use two used doors. I opted for the more expensive new doors. It is as good as new, probably better.

They like to use aftermarket "new"  doors/ wiring harnesses /headlights/ tail lights. 

had an explorer come in with wiring problem  the parts tags on the harness were written in chinese..... nothing matched .
