Paint thickness meters

Good am, does anyone have experience/recommendations for a paint thickness meter? Not looking to break the bank, just something reliable, easy to use. Thank you.

More to find bodywork (rust, bondo, etc) itself then to see if the car had actual paint work done.
Digital wise, as seen on BAT, you can find a decent unit for under $100, I have no experience with those, but have reviewed several online such as this one on Amazon:

Just keep in mind this style only works on metal, there are others out there for use on cars like the Corvette for instance, but they start above $650.
