Wow, lots of content in this video. Title makes it out to be a "help me buy Shelby's". It really is not.
Features Brian Styles, Ed Meyer, and a bunch of other notable owners and enthusiasts. 1967 Engineering car, and Brian doing a brain dump with documentation.

This video may need its own thread.

Thoroughbred SAAC/MCA/Mid America etc etc...
99% original parts etc etc...

Just a fleeting glimpse of that interior shows the wrong shifter and wrong oil pressure gauge, is that 1%?
I could imagine what a chassis/drivetrain/unibody inspection could reveal.

Judges?

Maybe they meant 99% original parts....by weight?

Roger Rode is still rebuilding steering components.
He uses a FAX machine, I am not sure that he has email.

The control wand, or knobs, are different for each year. That controller should all be the same, just made a comparison.
Starting in 1970, most of the remote mirrors have a 90° controller.

Mmm, Probably...........

That item used to be available from Scott Drake. Obsolete item since Holley took over.
Was called a "side view mirror remote controller. We were able to purchase since it was a sub assembly of the complete remote side view mirror assembly.
Good luck finding a source reproduction. You may have to get one from a used mirror. Did you look inside your door shell? Might have fallen inside when the mirror was removed.

Are you looking for a 69 Trans AM coupe race car or a Pontiac Trans AM. If the former, there weren't any. My 70 coupe is as close as you will find.

Well, maybe so, I am not the keeper of data and the expert to speak BUT I did see closeup what was definitely a 1969 Firebird and it was marked as Trans Am.

I was not impressed by it at all. It had add on's to it like I would expect a factory design mockup to have.

All the same scoops and spoiler that the '70 did have but they seemed almost glued on.

Once upon a time I was a "Pontiac Trans-Am guy" and the information that I had was from magazine coverages of the subject.

I do remember reading that there was a limited number of 69 Trans-Am's "built" late in the model year and that the number was limited and thought to be around 100. So at the time, really being a 67-8 Firebird 400 guy and knowing what the '70 T/A was, I always sought out the '69 T/A.

When I thought that I had found this one, I was extremely disappointed.

Apparently they do exist, unlike a unicorn, but much like finding a real unicorn, the horn on the nose is just stuck on.

When I was 9 a young guy in my neighborhood had a 69 Trans Am his parents bought him brand new. Then got a 70 lime superbird the next year. Had both cars for a few years and towed a boat behind both. BTW I saw I think 7 of the 8 69 Trans Am convertibles at MCACNs one year. First TRams Am produced and one of the 8 verts below from MCACN.

The Brothers Collection has half of the 1969 Trans Am convertibles. They also have half of all the 1966 GT-350 convertibles.

i'm thinking that shade of blue looks little light for night mist

After watching the video I agree the color looks light. After rereading the information on the car, it does not say what color it is other than "Blue".

Pat

It was on the Marti Report.

If I might comment;  I feel that "post counts" considerations should not be a tool for governing the function of the forum, that is to be regulated by the rules set forth and enforcement of such.  The idea that if we just make a minutia feature that we think might be a driving force for a few, which I assume this intent would be for those that might not be presenting postings of an appreciated subject matter but rather just flood the site with banter assumably solely for post count purposes, then better regulation is the answer, not limiting features to the entirety of the group.

I would fear otherwise that a policy of removing currently available features being deemed as the simplest solution to control the few, follows similarly to to choice in attempting to control homicides in the society by first removing the guns from being available, but then realizing that knives are now a problem so further regulation is required with still fewer choices for the masses, then baseball bats, sling-shots, before long bricks will need regulating!

I believe the intended value in the posting counts feature is that this perhaps provides some guidance to the readers as to the possible validity of the comments being made, as otherwise with proper regulation the disfavored poster would shall we say..........have been tarred & feathered, and run out of town!

     Scott.

Very well said.

Maybe posts made to the following areas of the forum should not count towards an individuals post counts: The Lounge, Deals and Appeals, Regional Forums, and The Lounge.

Those are one of the Legendary series of wheels offered by Holley/Scott Drake.

Good luck at the next showing.

To go along with the previous post I think most buyers would be very surprised if they knew how many parts are missing or installed wrong on a large percentage of Shelby's after 50 plus years. That is even on ones that have been restored one or more times.  I am not even talking about Div I or Thoroughbred or even Div II or trailered concours. Just because a car has been restored doesn't mean it was done to assemblyline standards which of course is the standard that most informed buyers desire to be done to. The car may have good workmanship but that is all for naught if the restorer is not up to date on Mustang/Shelby assemblyline build techniques. Just because it looks pretty doesn't mean it is done right. We freely help polite enthusiasts and restorers all of the time on this forum with many answers to build and part questions but I am sure it is only the tip of the iceberg of questions that need asked and answered . With the best of intentions there are many questions that those same people aren't even aware need asking. They don't know what they don't know. With all of that said it is a crap shoot every time on these auctions IMO without accurate background info.

Bob, that is quite possibly the most honest, and true statement that I have read in a some time. Kudos

Have only seen those A/C pulleys and related lateral bracket on 1967 FE engines. They may have been used on early 1968's. I have not seen them though.

This Ralph Williams?

Yes, from one of his car dealerships.

Has a Ralph Williams license plate frame.
I remember the TV commercials from that dealer network in the Los Angeles area in the 1960's-70's. Not sure which was more cringe, Ralph Williams or Cal Worthington.
