Quote from: DavidGT40 on June 12, 2025, 02:18:01 PMWhat aluminum alloy does Kirkham use to make body's?

I'm thinking they had a running change years ago, so if you have an interest in a specific chassis, you might want to reach out directly to them:

Cars For Sale / Re: 1965 Sunbeam Tiger

Quote from: 98SVT - was 06GT on June 10, 2025, 04:56:53 PMShelby's first encounter with improving a car sold by Chrysler.

Shelby did design the improvements/modifications to the Sunbeam Alpine to create the Tiger, but Chrysler Corp actually did not have their hands in the Sunbeam portion of the Roots automotive group till mid year 1966 during the 67 model year change over is when the Chrysler emblem started to show up on the new 67 Tigers being exported to the US.

Quote from: tesgt350 on June 10, 2025, 04:11:16 PMRupps Auction came to Tallahassee this past May 21st. and a White 1966 Tiger was entered in it.  It only bided up to $35,000.  I was shocked, I thought for sure it would hit $75,000 but nope.  Yours is really nice.

Thanks, I know someone "on the ground" during the auction, the car while clean and polished on the outside, did not show well otherwise. Plus it did not have a "TAC" done, something every Tiger owner should do.

This picture of the engine compartment tells part of that tale where just the correct air cleaner assembly is a $800-$1,100 item

As for mine it's just a poor mans cobra, just as much fun, at a fraction of the price  ;D

Quote from: roddster on June 05, 2025, 12:16:59 PMWell then, a tutorial on sidewall grinding would be pretty handy.

As would a direct link to the appropriate (IE: correct) lettering and such.

Just saying  ;D
Tire lettering sellers are all over the internet. Do not depend on them to know what you need for a vintage tire. You have to spend the time to do your own research on application wording, size etc.I am not aware of a one click stop. ;)

Perhaps then you can point me in the right direction as to what I need for the radials on 2642 vs the Bias ply tires that the car was sold to me with.  ;)

Quote from: sc4248 on June 05, 2025, 11:43:28 AMI have located a Raven Black 68 KR Shelby number 2591. I have many questions about this car as the inner fender does not match the Ford number. Other than that, it's a beautiful car. It is listed in the Registry. I have tried to contact the last owner, a Donald Pealer in Virginia with no success. My dilemma is that he may still own it and I'm not sure what I will be potentially buying. At this point and time, I'm going to assume it's a clone, but I really would like to explain the Tags on the car including the Shelby fender tag, door tag and dash tag. Any information would greatly be appreciated. I can supply my phone number if needed. Thanks Dan

Dan,

For someone who specializes in Chevy's you seem to run across a bunch of questionable shelby products :D

Anyway, the 68 Shelby registrar contact information is below. He will be your best bet in regards to current information on the car.
As for your statement of the inner fender numbers not matching, that is your first clue that the car may not be what you or the seller believes it is. No matter how clean and shiny it it. Give that information to Vinny below as well.

Was at a wedding in NJ this weekend and had a friend of the family come up and ask me about whether or not the later Shelby products were offered with an automatic transmission. Won't go in to specific details why do to privacy concerns, other than they cannot drive a manual transmission due to physical limitations. If not, are there any companies out there that offer a conversion from manual to automatic?

Thanks in advance

Quote from: mlplunkett on May 21, 2025, 09:37:42 PMMy 67 mustang came to me with a 351 and what I assume is a C4. I have had a 428 built with a stroker package, roller rockers and lifters, aluminum heads, etc so I'm guessing the power and torque will be in the neighborhood of 450. I'm planning to stay with an auto trans and Im not going to be racing the car so nothing exotic is needed but I like the idea of something that has overdrive. What trans would you guys suggest?

Check with the guys at Performance Automatic (google them) in Hagerstown, Maryland

Things they will want to know:
General engine specs (dyno sheet for HP/torque curve would be extremely helpful)
Your specific usage (IE: street cruiser, drag racer, road racer, or ?????)

Great guys and can assemble an automatic transmission for your specs and use.
