Find a copy of the homogene (s?) paperwork and a build list for one of the groups of cars built. Have you chosen which group you want to copy?

That should be the start point unless your going to copy a particular car. IMHO

BUT, I am still waiting on an answer to my original question........" WHAT are the Points deducted and are they Automatic and is it the same Number at every SAAC Show?"

Not sure what you mean by "automatic"

If the detail is not original to the car and per the rules then I guess you could apply the word or use "expected" at an annual convention

Are the points always the same every year?  I would expect (don't judge that class but I can draw from experiences) that since it's pretty much the same team every year that there is a typical number of points taken on those items that they see over and over based on how great an impact the item is to the others in the same category and how many points total in that category.  This is referred to a weighted deductions

The challenge here is has there been enough 67's shown at SAAC annually for the team to establish a pattern or common practice. Given the cars in the past I'm not sure if there have been many 67's shown at the annual national show as the expectations are high and the word gets out.

Just what I've seen and would expect given my experiences with the members of the judging team but can't speak for them or others feelings and experiences may differ :)

Would be nice to see some undercarriage shots or even trunk shots in the ad. ::)

The red oxide peeking out in the front wheel well attracts the eye and questions IMHO

Wonder if the car was "restored" in the mid west or the north east part of the country given some of the details

So the cover retaining bolts and cover sides should have some indirect "over spray" then. Thanks !

Normally the pattern used by the workers that were assigned that task missed /skipped the spring cover areas and in doing so missed the bolt ends and nuts. Car was pretty much completely assembled  by the time the from wheelwells got sound deadener. Much different than the practices related to the rear wheel wells where they were applied before and got direct application of body color over that application

So typically no. Have plenty of examples

Never heard or seen one either but have seen originals for 66 K code Mustangs

............... "KD" is almost always on the core support or cross member.

+1 those were over the black and normally IMHO "K"s and multiple "D"s or even multiple "K"s  just like 6 cylinders that would have one or more "6"s in the same location. standard V8's didn't receive the engine code call outs  just the "D"s

Haven't been able to place a specific point of the change over or the introduction of the newer style. The fact that there were plenty of the earlier versions on shelves of dealerships, regular maintenance schedules, it being a fairly often changed out part and the possibility that they were still being used at the plant makes for a challenge IMHO

Right now, for me it appears to be somewhere in the Dec 65 - Jan 66 built cars. Need to check through all the Mustang data and pictures to see if that can add anything to the discussion

I haven't seen an AC # PV666C  "round" body ( no hex). Ford would not put the C5AE part number on one with a round body. The part number would have to change.

+1 The later non-rebuildable ones were different

Hey everyone.  I am restoring my 66 GT350H.  We are ready to paint and I am trying to figure out what the DSO would be for my car.  My car is 1449.  So what I want to know is the DSO number that should be on the front radiator support.  Thanks for your help

Originally the DSO code would not have been written on the radiator support of 66 San Jose built Shelby's or any other Mustang IMHO. Of course have allot of pictures and documentation of this and other markings to document this.

Not sure where that came from

Also consider that the markings that your likely referring to were not really visible on the finished car but were applied to the bare metal then painted over only to decades later leach through and often rust the radiator support.  There are other markings that were applied over the black paint but that is a different purpose and discussion ;)

Most but not all were applied with a permanent crayon or lumber marker in yellow. There were normally other markings that were different colors and different types of applicators

Wouldn't they all use the Los Angeles DSO?

Think he was asking for the order/special order group number rather than the DSO which would start with the DSO ;)

Randy,

I have added 6S240 as receiving California plate UAM692. According to the Registry other 1966 cars received the U series plates.

I cannot see any reason that DMV would have replaced the plates from 1966 to 1972.

Unless some additional information comes along, I assume the plate to be the first issued to that car.

People/owners just need to realize that often the reason for these sequences of letters relate to a car sitting or being used for some purpose that delayed them receiving the plates until. This is often indicated in the registry

Had an offer to post pics for me so I'll forward those tonight, to further stir the pot on the Doug's vs. Belanger debate....

Mark

Thought side by side would be a nice way to show them :)

Do I have it backwards?  The 65 Fastbacks have the latch with bumper and large hole in cover and the 66 latch has no bumper and small hole?

Haven't studied it in great lengths. The no bumper smaller side hole version appears to have been used for a short period of time (remember there were differences in the latch receiver on the fold down also) but the majority of 66's look like the 65's I posted.

More 66 Examples - Couple of different plants and production periods

Quote from: 6s1640 on April 19, 2018, 12:48:25 AMIt also look like the fold down "stop" bracket or recess plates are different between the two years.

Yes that is a difference between the production years for Mustangs

I believe all 65 Mustang fastbacks had a rear seat latch with no bumper and smaller hole in latch cover.  I.........................

Cory here are a half dozen 65 examples from unrestored cars as far back as Aug 64 production

August 64

Sept 64

Have dozens of more examples

Believe you were expecting an example like the one below from 6T09K1445xx a Nov 66 (approx)  built car

Yes that Bill's car and he is the original owner of that red no stripe Paxton car.

John,  DO yourself a favor and build a stand to hold your entire front end assy.  IF you don't you will have a hard time duplicating how factory painted the front.    I do mine now all on cart and assemble almost everything on front and then slide it on..

chris

Great suggestion Chris. When you design the rack watch for the unintended shadows some designs can produce on the bottom of the fenders :(
The one below is designed to attach to the fender lip like the original one shown above for that reason though we did not build in the hood lift mechanismlike the original ::)

Here is one example
