Mine is still fun to drive. I'm just getting to old

Looks great, radials...much better ride than old bias ply.
Fills the wheel wells nicely

I have a set of them also on 6S1431. The Bias Ply tires are really crappy  They look much better than the BF Goodrich T/A's

Quote from: 427heaven on August 31, 2024, 09:25:37 PMI have a personal story to share about an Original 1966 Shelby GT 350 engine I removed from my car a few years ago. Engine was listed here and was offered up for the current owner to see and he had NO interest in it, thats ok no big deal. Many owners are willing to purchase anywhere from 7-10 times the amount of a standard 289 because it means that much to have the ORIGINAL engine back in their baby. A few chose to POO POO mine because it was painted black, a few chose to jump on the POO POO band wagon because it had an ORIGINAL COBRA dual quad intake on it and then there was one guy that said it had a FRAM oil filter on it ..... IMAGINE THAT! What some thought was way too much then, is just a drop in the bucket today! I believe my engine sits proudly on display in the FASTEST MAN ON PLANET EARTHS showroom! R.I.P. GEORGE- GOD SPEED!!!
George Poteet bought my old Hertz car (6S1855) from Fanasty Junction. I had put a service replacement short block in my present car (6S1431) and used the original block out of 1431 to install into 1855. I kept the original block for 1855 (needed a sleeve because of a carb nut being swallowed) and he called me after he bought the car. We came up with a reasonable price and he reunited the engine with the car. Side note, he offered me a chance to drive a car at Bonneville. A true gentleman among racers
Still searching form my original engine block which was changed out of 1855

Does it include the main caps? If so I'd go for it.
When the value exceeds price the deal is made

i drove it there from SAAC 49, but because i changed the tires to the original Goodyear BlueStreak's (perhaps the worst tires ever made) i trailered to Philly for the Cult Car Show after SAAC 49.
I'm going to Hershey for the AACA Meet in Oct and two other judged shows under AACA rules, so I'll keep the tires on until after the Hilton Head Concours in late Oct and then change back to my "street" tires after that.
i drove the car over 3,000 miles between early May until just after SAAC. car has 250,118 miles on it now
Fall is the best time to drive, cool days, fall colors and twisty roads. What could be better.
Should I try for 300,000? by 2030? That's 8,300 miles per year for 6 years or a little under 700 miles per month.
It doable but I may not be able do it as I will be into my 8th decade by then

The plan is to keep driving it until either I A:Run out of money B:Car wears out or C: I wear out
Since I try to just do most of the work myself, A is low probability B Since I am the king of deferred maintenance, I just follow the factory recommended intervals. C: This is the most probable as I just turned 74 and am starting to feel it
Until then it's drive it and enjoy it
Plans for the rest of the year.
Pick up from display at the Simeone Museum on Tuesday, and a local car show on Labor Day weekend, car show in Leesburg Va on the 14th of Sept, car show at the Lehigh Vally SAAC club on Sept 22,  St Micheals Concours on Sept 29th, Hershey on Oct 10-11, Rockville Md car show on Oct 19th, and finally the Hilton Head Concours on Nov 1st-3rd. Plus whatever else I can fit into the time line with local drives, cruises and just plain riding around
On my deathbed I'll have a smile on my face of all the things I did rather than with regret of the things I should have done.
Drive it, you'll never regret it

Quote from: JohnSlack on August 05, 2024, 05:23:05 PMSometimes (99%) of the time it's not about the cars, it's all about the people. There are quite a few people who will try and be first in line to buy that car. I've always told my wife that the first person who comes to her about buying any of my stuff is NOT the person that I want to have my stuff.

She has a list of people that I would trust to help her choose where my stuff goes. I would suspect that this cat did also.

John

I agree, i have a list of the few people i would trust with my almost 6 decades of collecting this stuff.
Told the wife to get my buddies to clear out all the Shelby stuff, toss it in the F350 Dually, or the trailer with the car, hook it all together and start calling. I started a inventory list of all the crap I've got and its a lot more than I remember. I even have some duplicates of stuff that she is instructed to just give away "to the right people"

Depending on your driving habits and the climate where it is driven they can dirty fairly quickly.
The old "hold over the drop light" trick still works
