Just bought a 1966 Tbird with a 390. It's got the air pump all the hoses brackets heads etc. Is it usable/same as on GT500? I'm going to end up with my 428CJ in it so I won't need the emissions stuff.
The short answer is about half of it is the same. The other half is different. The alt adjusting bracket is different and most like the driver side smog tube.  The pulleys will all be different. You can also use most of the hoses. The 66 smog parts are completely different then 68-70 CJ stuff but the 66 smog parts will fit on the CJ engine the same way as on a 67 PI.

FYI for those reading the metal stamped version was used up to most of 69 production. That is when the C5 black ink stamped filter came into use. They typically have very late 69 production date codes. With that said those filters a incorrectly used on some earlier concours applications. The one in the picture date code is 37th week of 69.

I don't know anything about this car, but it sure seemed to be below what the recent market has been for 65 GT350s at auction (all in price of $324.5K).

https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1965-SHELBY-GT350-210000

Also, the R Model (as mentioned in another thread) didn't get past the $800K mark.

Do people think the market is softening on 65s...both R and non-R?
You can't take the results at face value IMO. In pictures the vast majority of all restored look the same. You have to see them in person. Know what you are looking or having someone who knows what they are looking at is essential. You have to know those specific cars . To me the 199 car was a little low but not much based on the car which I have seen before. In this case most likely a few people potential buyers who looked at it and were told or realized it would not be a high scoring car in concours if so entered. Keep in mind that correctness aspect is the yardstick these cars are typically value assessed by. It has been at auction a number of times. The last time I saw it the car it  would be a low Bronze in DIV II concours IMO. I didn't see it this time but no reason to think it has changed based on what I do see in the pictures. There are a lot of people who will get the wrong perception based on a car like this and what it bid to. That will effect the market in a negative way. It isn't a correct perception but that is what happens when you get a lot of commodity buyers who really don't know the difference and base assessment that the cars are all equal condition.  They are not.

Bob when do you think the versions with the part number and logo were stamped into the metal were used or came into usage?

Know we went through this subject and similar posted pictures before the big crash.

C5AE version

C7AE version

Jeff, late 67 is my best guess . The C7 marked filter is a FG15 by the thread . I am not sure what the C5 marked filter is . For those reading the FG 15 was the one used on the GT 350 needing a adapter.

I can only imagine how much trouble it was to get this far. Here are pics of Paxton gauges.

The Rotunda marked filter was early and then like a lot of parts the trademark transitioned to FOMOCO. In this case the trademark skipped right over the Fomoco trademark to the Autolite one. I believe the Autolite marked filter was for much later 66 production and all of 67 GT350 production.

OK already!! I certainly don't want to be considered paranoid, a troll, or lack integrity. That's a lot of assumptions based on something so simple. We weren't masking our name, we were following suit with MOST everyone else here. Some of you already have a large internet presence because of your professional affiliation with the hobby. Having your true name here probably helps your business, and that's OK with me.

The internet is a powerful tool, in good ways and bad. When I search on my name it returns a lot of details and some totally false information. If someone chooses not to use some form of their true name here that should not make them a second-class citizen or immediately considered to have ill-intent.

Just a question, if you're not just a little paranoid how come so few put their gender, age and location in their profile?

Ted
It it is a reality that a few bad actors use the anonymous screen name as a shield. FYI this not just a supposition but common knowledge with long time members based on past incidences. Some worse then others. Unfortunately others with honorable intent use a anonymous screen name also. It is therefore hard sometimes to tell the difference because of the anonymity . Time on the clock helps some to understand a persons intentions and what they are about. That is why I would like to see more using a closer approximation of their real name. Even like TedS. That is just me and understand others my think differently. When I joined the first forum shortly after it was put online years ago I also had a anonymous CB handle screen name . It was just because everyone else was doing it that way. One of the forum moderators at the time did not like something I was saying and chose to call me out over my opinion thinking I wouldn't stand behind my convictions and hide behind a anonymous screen name. I changed my anonymous screen name right then and there . He still hid behind his. That was and still is my reason to own what I say for good or for bad. I know that my point of view does not fit everyone. Others have their own reasons . Each has to make a choice what makes the best sense for THEM.  That still doesn't keep me from wanting my druthers  :D .

I had my 67 Sleeping Beauty- at some of the gathering places near the auctions like the PAVILLIONS near it all. Had at least 95 inquiries Is it for sale? Asked about our cars and their was a few that sold like auctions America GT 350 sold for a buck fifty all in with fees. Good times were had by most as usual,if you dig cars this was the place to be!!! :)
Heck, I was on the fence about making the trip. If I would have known you were going to have your car out there that fact would have put my deciding factor of doing a trip over the top to come given the auctions and Marcus's open house. Dang

They look very nice . Since you wanted input I am not sure if you are going to be selling them but if you are then I hope they will not be very expensive. A 500.00 plus gauge will be hard to sell unless closer to original IMO. The 15 pound gauge would be a non starter for me. It is a non original aspect that stands out. You probably already know this but for those that may not understand why it is hard to find a 10 pound gauge the older super charger systems had trouble building 10 pound which is why the old gauges only went that far. Today's superchargers commonly build over 10 pound which is probably why the 15 pound gauges where a alternative. They do look good just wish you could get them closer.Best of luck with them.

Seeing pictures taken back in the day, be it the 60's or 70's often have great information on how the cars were fitted.

This picture came up today on another thread. I had not seen it before. It appears to be a mostly stock, later production, '67 GT500. Note the Thermactor system is in place, but the valve covers are Shelby branded.

Bob, Dave, JD, do you have any background on this picture?

.
It was a article in Popular Mechanics. I believe at least some of the subject matter had to do with changing valve covers.

gold lettering on windshield washer bag correct for all 66 models?
Not all of 66 production. Typically later 66 production.

love the remnants of the engine ID  paper tag on the coil and the lighter blue Fomoco adjustable shocks
The light Ford blue engine paint is almost a exact match to 66 shocks that are the blue. Much later 66 shock versions were black.

Hi All.  My 67 GT350 does not have the cooling loop on the power steering.  I thought all 67 GT350s and GT500s came with this.  I looked up the part # in SAAC registry and bought the cooler (P/N C6AZ-3D746-A, this one stamped C5AA-3D746C).

1) Am I correct that all 67s had this power steering cooler?  Or is it possible this was an option mine did not have from Shelby?

2) Assuming I should have it, any suggestions where to track down the additional hoses needed to install the cooling loop?

Thanks,

John
John all regular production 67 Shelby's came with the powersteering cooler and lines. The correct cooler is marked C6AA. The C5AA has a different mounting bracket position. Finding correct looking hose to use in the cooling loop is a trick all you can typically find has a weave texture that shows through. The original was very smooth in appearance . Look around and if you can't find any click on my name and private message me . I can hook you up with some .

late car since it has the valve cover hold down brackets?
btw what is the plate thingy above the alternator.
also is there body color overspray on the hood hinges and export brace?
I am not sure what plate thingy you are seeing. It all looks typical . Maybe you are seeing the superimposed starter solenoid and wires. The over spray on the hinges would indicate some previous non factory body work. there are other maintenance things that have been changed like filter and positive battery cable. The cable is a little strange to be changed given the assemblyline battery which typically would only last 2 or 3 years. The positive battery cables are typically good for many years of normal use.
