Any recommendations for restoring Magnum 500s?  I have more than just surface rust.  Not ready to pull the trigger yet, just trying to get prepared. 

I am looking to purchase a set of new tires this summer.  I have a GT350H, stock Shelby suspension, and original Magnum 500s.

Currently, I am running BF Goodrich 205/70R14.

Anyone running 215/70R14 Cooper Cobras?  Do they rub?

Any other suggestions? 

I drive it weekly on the street and highway.

We have a 66 GT350H - original 289 HiPo & C4 transmission.  However, at some point the rear end gears were switched out to 4.11s.  As you can imagine, freeway driving is pretty brutal.  I don't have it up on the freeway that often, and when I do, it is usually only for a few miles.   However, we may start looking to drive it on some longer day trips and want freeway driving to be a little more reasonable. 

Right now I am 3500+ RPMs on the freeway at around 65 mph.  Also, it usually shifts out of 1st almost immediately off the line unless you are really standing on it.   

What are others running with a C4? 3.50, 3.25, 3.00? 

Not tracking the car.  It is a weekend driver, mostly cruising on weekends for coffee and shows.

Looking to be able to cruise at 75mph, but also want to keep some get up and go off the line.  Is 3.25 a good middle ground here?  Calculator shows RPMs will be under 3500 at 75mph, which is good, but not sure how much off the line acceleration I am giving up to get there.

I am reinstalling a Holley 715 after a carb rebuild and I have a couple of quick questions.

1) I have a small 1/4 drive torque wrench (in/lbs).  I looked in the Holley specifications for their typical carbs and it indicated to torque the hold down nuts to 60-80 in-lbs.  Is this correct?  I am running a stock Shelby intake manifold and two gaskets with and a 1/4" heat dissipator.  Right now they are just finger tight. 

2)  Trying to figure out a return spring set up.  I have a generic bracket and a single spring setup.  Anyone have a different setup they would recommend?

I could use a little advice.  When I drive at freeway speed for hours the car runs perfectly.  However, if I get into stop and go traffic in town, the car dies when I come to a complete stop while in gear (auto) after about 15-20 minutes of driving.  I can restart in park and it idles perfectly.  If I try to shift to drive without giving it some gas, it dies again.  It runs perfectly once I get it going again, as long as I don't stop in gear.   

Temp gauge reads a little warm.  It usually sits at the "M" in TEMP, but always has for as long as I can remember.  Years ago I tested actual temperature with thermometer and heat gun and it was well within range.     

Fuel pump and fuel filer have recently been replaced.
I removed the ignition coil and don't hear any indication of fluid when i shake it.
Fuel lines are away from block and headers.

Should I just go ahead and replace the coil?  Other ideas?
