If his car is 5S081 he would not have neither the adapter nor the fuel filter.
He probably got the 66 type fuel line instead of the 65 type.

It would be the same 1965 style fuel line setup either way, but the avatar is sfm5s081, indicating a full 1965 car – not a carryover. I know the owner of 6S081 and I don't think he participates on this forum.

So the original poster may have gotten in the wrong area. But either way – whether he's asking about 5s081 or 6s081 – the answer is the same. The correct fuel line style for his car is the 1965 setup with no fuel filter between the pump and the carb. The filter was an integral part of the fuel pump on those cars.

Of course if the fuel pump has been replaced with something non-standard for his car then all bets are off.

For me it's the carryovers. When I set out to buy a Shelby (almost 40 years ago) I found that the early cars appealed to me the most – the 65's & 66's. Between those two years I liked the raw performance of the 65's, but wanted the cool appearance features of the 66's (side scoops and quarter windows). What to do? Then I discovered the carryovers, which are a nice combination of the 65 performance and 66 appearance features that I wanted. A sort of best of both worlds to my way of thinking. So that's what I bought and I've never regretted it.

Having expressed that preference, I have to say that there's not a Shelby made that I don't like. They each have their own special magic. And in the middle of the hot & humid Texas summers I sometimes dream of having a 1969 GT350 with AIR CONDITIONING. Ahhhh... cool air. Yes!

THANKS for the info! Real world sales are really the bottom line.

BTW, Hagerty is currently showing:

$250,000 – #1 Concours
$198,000 – #2 Excellent
$146,000 – #3 Good
$120,000 – #4 Fair

Your average of $178,000 for 11 cars slides right in there between Good and Excellent. With your high of $297,000 and low of $115,500 nicely bracketing Hagerty's upper and lower figures. Maybe Hagerty is more accurate than I thought.

I think that is mis-interpretation of the facts? If it was 10 years ago the technology would only allow it to load in 5 minutes.

Now that means there is something wrong with the equipment.

The way this server is wobbling around between ok and crashing again shows it is on it's last legs or maybe just being propped up on it's last legs momentarily?

I think ultimately we, yes me included, are going to have to contribute to a Pitcrew Paypal account for donations to pay for a new server? That may be the only way to fix these issues, i.e., a new server or rent or lease a server monthly?

I seem to remember having a discussion with Ron about 10 years ago and he said a new server was about $18,000, and basically no one wanted or maybe more correctly no one could pay for it at the time?

Anyway anyone looks at this, this forum HAS become the lifeblood of the minute to minute existence of this "club" and it clearly needs it to survive even in the near future.  This server issue needs to be remedied?

Any suggestions? I have a roll of quarters I can contribute right now?  I'm going to need to keep the dimes and nickels for gas money. I might have more next month when I vacuum out the car?

$18,000 is a lot of money for one person, but divided up it might be manageable. If 180 people chip in $100 apiece we're there. I'm in for that amount if that's what it takes to get this forum speeded up and reliable. Now all we need are 179 more members to step up to that level. Or even fewer contributors of someone with deep pockets is willing to go a little higher.

But before we get too far along this path we need to find out for certain if a new server is the solution, and exactly what that would cost. Anyone know the answer to those two questions?

I think the expectations were the car was going to bring more than $1m! Then again, the R model should have brought a lot more

I think a 550 hammer and 605 all in price represents a strong and appropriate price for a very important car. Dont know why anyone would have expected a street spec car to bring over $1m personally.

The hammer also represents a strong profit on the car from its sale a year or so ago at Worldwide where it brought in the high 300s hammer price.

Vern, my notes agree with SBCARGUY. I show this car to have auctioned in 2016 for $456,500 ($415,000 hammer plus fees). But we could be wrong. Can you double check your source on the high 300s hammer price you mentioned. At this point, I suppose it's of no real consequence. But I try to track the prices on carryovers and would like to correct my records if my current info about this car is wrong.

Vern, thanks for mentioning the carryovers. They do usually bring a slight premium over a full production '66 GT350. Hagerty's is now putting that premium at +35%. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but it's a reasonable starting point.

BTW, the guides like Hagerty Online Valuation Tools, and CPI (Cars of Particular Interest) seem to be on the high side to me. I know they must have some kind of tangible data to base their prices on, but their numbers don't generally match the few sales I hear about.

I don't think there is a bad factory color for a 1966 GT350. They are all beautiful in their own way. I'm partial to blue/white, but have to say that an ivy green '66 is a stunning car – especially when viewed in person. I'd love to own one.

Be true to yourself on this one. If you personally don't like green, then don't by a green car. But if you do like green, don't let detractors keep you from the color you want.

Jim, this is strictly my OPINION.

I think you're on the right track. If a car would take $80K in work to be worth $200K, then its current value is probably $120K – give or take a little.

If the car is anything close to presentable, a buyer might pay a little more than that with the idea in mind to simply enjoy the car as it is.

But if the car would require a restoration, then any buyer will probably subtract a little from that $120K number as compensation for their time and trouble during the restoration, and to have a little in reserve for the inevitable and expensive unknowns that always surface during that process.

Again, just my OPINION.

There was a multiple failure of both hardware and software at the Server that caused sufficient corruption.

2) Is the current backup process more reliable than the one that just failed? And if so, how?

Yes... going forward, we will have redundancy beyond our last regiment.

I always thought the 'old' forum was a benefit of being a supporting SAAC club member but I may have been wrong.  I'd like to understand the relationship between the club and forum before jumping back in.

I love this forum and the helpful members here. And I'd like them all to know that their contributions are not in constant danger of disappearing. Nothing comes with a 100% guarantee, but some explanation of any new, better backup procedures might go a long way in encouraging contributions - some of which can require a lot of time and work. I know at least one member who put hundreds of hours into a well liked topic. I suspect he will not do that again if he feels like the treat of losing it all overnight is hanging over his head.

So help the forum members understand why there were not regular backups of data over the years along the way.  Its really unfortunate that so much information had to be lost forever/ disappear because a backup of data did not occur.  Was this possible to do - but just not get done - or is it more complicated than that?  And is there a plan for the backup of data going forward?  Are we learning from mistakes made or could the same thing occur going forward?  Not trying to stir the pot, just trying to understand why some preventive maintenance did not occur and therefore the lose of so much good information - which is really disappointing.  Glad its back and running again though.  Thanks for the efforts to try and recover the past.

It was a perfect storm of malfunctions at the server side.
Of course, you always learn from the unexpected... new features are in place.

It's wonderful to have the forum back online, and you & everyone involved are greatly appreciated. But I suspect that this recent hiccup may discourage some people from putting much time and work into future posts – for fear it may all simply disappear again.

Can you add any to your explanation, and possibly give us an insight into some of the precautions being taken to try to avert this kind of thing in the future? I know there are no 100% guarantees, but some reasonable assurance that new processes are in place to safeguard against future disasters would be comforting.

I'm here no matter what because this is simply the best place in the world to communicate with fellow Shelby enthusiasts. THANK YOU for all your hard work on behalf of the Shelby community.

BTW, it's funny to see you, the Administrator, listed as a Newbie. I guess there's humor to be found in any situation if you just look hard enough.
