Hi,
One more supply company is Inline tube. Have had very decent service and they make very
Nice rear brake cables also in stainless steel if desired. Best way to look after brakes is to flush and replace fluid every 3 years. Or if you start fresh use silicone fluid and unless you are planning to get on the track it should be good for even longer. Works excellent in a show car that is not used/driven much, and will not harm paint. Hope this helps. R.R.

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Re: space saver mounting
September 09, 2024, 06:00:37 PM
Tim,
Have not done this and have only read about it so here is what I have heard so far....
Most info says it must be inflated to be mounted or dismounted and even with lots of lube it is very difficult to get the bead to seat on the rim--it is also time consuming to deflate and get "shrunk" one comment says it takes 3 people!!!another says paint will be damaged on reinstalling no matter what you do..so Best of luck and be careful
R.R.  I think you may need a tire shop with "older type equipment" to help.

Hi
Just a quick message to say be very careful with this block if it still is standard bore a ball hone may do more harm than good. It is EXTREMELY important that it be properly cleaned if it spun a bearing and if you can WAIT untill you can spend the money to do it properly-honed with torque plates is a crutial step to provide good ring seating. Ask any pro engine builder. We wait to see what you report next.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: THE RAILROAD CARS
September 01, 2024, 10:38:43 PM
Hi Railroad folks,
To answer the latest question about 2621....I saw this car in person and judged it for a local show. It is coded for Lime Gold and had been repainted Lime Gold. Owner then was
Mike Dodge who later sold the car to a person in New Zealand and they repainted it White
No sign of this car ever being Blue. Hope this helps.
Several cars on the train that derailed were Blue so we should be able to trace which car you are asking about. Do you know any more details like the year or where the car was bought? Maybe pictures??? Old paperwork or anything can provide clues.

Hi to all,
Some very important questions are more about condition of the original engine. Many times this is overlooked. As an example rule for any engine is main bearing caps and cylinder bore, and if the original is still standard bore with original caps or has never been machined it would/should be considered most valuable. Let this guide be the most important. A worn out block that is still in need of a rebuild gets expensive.
Remember you cannot replace metal after is cut. If a block has been properly cared for or stored properly will also matter for its future.
Good Luck with your decision!!

Shelby American History / Re: Signature ID?
August 21, 2024, 07:19:27 PM
Hi,
After looking this over I think we need a list of employees from 1966.
Someone in the club should be able to produce one. Few people would have authority to sign a company check so it should narrow it down quickly. It is very unique and will be a great mystery to solve. Maybe someone from the Bank ?? The only  other signatures I have seen were W Olson-Phil Remington-Al Dowd.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Over-Heating 67 GT500

Hi Jakob,
Several things should be checked-coolant type and strenght? 50% antifreeze 50% distilled
water as a starting point. Also the radiator should be tested for good flow. Was it cleaned before the engine rebuild? Also pressure test the cap.An improper thermostat may
limit coolant flow, and with this engine every ounce counts. Ignition timing needs to be checked-engine run on with the key off is not good and timing and idle speed both need to be properly set. Do your basics before spending more money. Let us know what you find

Hi Again,
When you look at the Marti report it shows 172 cars this color which must be the number of total fastbacks 350 and 500 combined. Don't forget to count 1 coupe and 1 convertible
so 174 cars total for code 9 done by Shelby for the year. 96 G.T.500 and 78 G.T.350 cars
would seem like correct numbers. Rare enough !!

Hi and Happy 4th!!!
Thanks to Dave for the dedication and work.
Sounds like Mr Green needs to buy a registry.
Also please remember it is Lime Gold (not Green) and because it was a new color for 67
it was very popular. It also faded as did most high metallic colors of the 1960's and
most owners wanted a solid color after that. Long time urban legend was Shelby did not
like Red because of Ferrari. Most of his personal cars were some shade of Blue.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Rear axle filler plug

Hi
Just wondered if anyone knows where to get replacement seal for the filler plug. It is a very thin metal and should be available still. Thanks in advance !!

Hey
Bob has beyond a doubt proven how #544 was built. Roy's point also is great-a high rise will not fit under a stock hood. And it was Fred Goodell that was present and drove the car for Shelby not Chuck Cantwell. So unless we find other information with pictures this is a no brainer. Anyone know how to post the video of the real car on the track?
maybe after watching it we can make you understand.

Hi to 67 fans,
The Super Snake is well known and has been documented all its life which must be one of the reasons it sold for such record money.....one of many reasons it was used for tire tests was the TORQUE output of its 427 the tall tires and the tall gears used.Nice to brag about horsepower numbers but the torque output of both 427 engines was very close, and with out any aerodynamic changes I seriously doubt you can go much faster even if you could control it. Keep in mind some of the first FORD G.T. cars crashed until they were able to get them stable. I seem to remember 180 mph causes lift- best to learn from the past....did you see the recent Mercedes cars that became kites, just a few years ago?  Be safe !!
