Kent,
Some people want to believe their hoods were put on at the factory 54 years ago but have not done their homework. Yes, a couple of cars received them under warranty from a dealer but we have a good idea which cars they are.
The proof of which cars received louvered hoods at the Shelby comes from the factory Daily Poduction Sheets which noted by Vin. which cars received the louvered hoods. All of those cars had factory AC.

Originally no, however a couple cars did end up with them under warranty as a replacement. After production, the first hoods that Ford ran out of were the smooth hoods. From then on louvered hoods were the only hoods available until they they were depleted. That is why we see some non AC cars with the louvered hoods.

Does anyone know if there were different fiberglass methods of construction for the hybrid metal structure hoods.

(cloth mesh on the early parts and maybe mat strand on the later ones...different vendors?)

That would take the versions of hoods from 4 to 6, if true.

Rich,
Like I told you the last time you asked me, this is in the new Registry along with vendors. Hopefully SAAC will get it printed soon.

When we are saying "earlier" and "later", what are the approximate car numbers of GT350's and 500's for certain hood style usage?

It was done by date. Shelby was running out of metal framed hoods in March so there was a mix of all glass and metal framed hoods, especially later on in the month. A few metal hoods did make it into April. Near the end of the run of them, some GT 350's ended up with hoods with the GT 500 cut out.

Doug,
I don't have any information from Shelby. That information was strictly 1966 and older. What I have came from Ford.

Anyone picking up anything on the East coast?

Thanks
I have had good results with Uship.

The Rumor is correct Bob - let's make it FOUR red 67s.  Given the historical significance of the trio planning to attend, I thought it would be a great addition to the show if the Very First 1967 Shelby GT500 be there with them.  V738-2 paved the way for the trio's existence and was built approximately 3 months before the other three GT500s (100, 131, 139).

Please stop by and say "Hi" if attending the show.

What a great opportunity to see all 4 cars under one roof!

My 67' GT350 has a built date of February and all the engine is date coded Dec, 1966  (6M)   Also. my block isn't stamped with vin but my trans is.
Let the Registrar know the Shelby number and he can look the car up in the factory records. The engine assembly date on the front of the block is also important.

You have to be crazy sharing your Ford Vin. There is no upside to it. Sharing or posting your Marti Report is just as bad. If you share a Marti report remove your Ford Vin. from the 4 locations it appears on the form.

Up For Auction / Re: Can this be explained to me?

The seller's contact information is clearly in the eBay add and no one would seriously bid with the ability to talk directly to the seller. The seller was putting it out there on eBay to get free advertising. The car had tremendous interest when it was originally listed and if it had been the "11,939 mile factory original" it was advertised as would have sold immediately and been a bargain for the purchaser.
It isn't that and I believe the wording of the add hurt it.
I saw this car many years ago and at the time it needed a restoration. Obviously it received it. I always recommend that a 1967 Shelby be evaluated by an expert before purchase. If it has it's original drive train and the restoration work was done properly it could be a nice car for someone. There were only 55 red 4 speed GT 350's built in 1967.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: #2087 Restoration Questions

Mike,
This is Dave, the 67 Registrar and I know someone who has a correct date coded radiator for your car. I am emailing you his contact information.

The 1967 Registry database and text was submitted to SAAC last January. SAAC is responsible for getting it into book form. We are all frustrated that this has not happened yet. I understand that it will be completed prior to the end of the year but I have no control over it.

I wonder if all that stuff was scooped up by Ford and taken to Dearborn when they took over. They would need the info for warranty and accounting for the KD cars that had been sent.
We were able to get some files from Ford for the later cars.
