67 GTA fastback - 1976

Over 400 were equipped with power sunroofs including all the Hertz cars.

I was in college in this time period. Was one of the unwitting participants in the first draft lottery. Pulling #366 took that monkey off my back, and the music here is essentially the soundtrack of most of my life. Love it.

The last draft lottery I was bestowed with #63. Almost signed on for the AF.

Machine dispensed (gas station) condom under 68 Cougar console. Horse track betting slips under back seat of Mustang. Gas station finds: ball bearings rolling around bottom of Cadillac door, metal can openers welded to bottom of Vega, numerous nuts laying in Cheby air cleaner, written in chalk on bottom of 70s Dodge - F... Dodge.

I failed the test.

Do you have a auto parts store temp sender in the intake manifold? They can/usually read high.

"original Shelby molds" for 67/68 body lines???

I've had many 68s with tilt and all eventually have the no starting problem. The switch inside the vacuum housing fails open. Maybe was designed to fail that way. Tired to take that assembly apart once to see this switch but its riveted and I ended up ruining it. I would unplug the two connector plug from the switch and make a jumper to plug on. Problem would be that the engine will start with the wheel in the tilt-away position.

In 67 there was a different setup using a door jamb type switch that was accessible on the column if needed to be replaced. The 68 collapsible column must have forced the change.

69/70s - balanced and sleek look, going fast while standing still. AND doesn't look like a Mustang with addons. But I still like and enjoy the KR.

The local Ford dealer in the 60s/70s would repaint any Mustang/Cougar taken in on trade that was Lime Gold or 'shades' of yellow to Rangoon/Poppy Red, or "Resale Red'.

Tread carefully with this dealer and prepare to empty the bank. They get a few Shelbys a year. They told me a magnet that didn't stick to a 68s rear quarter was because Shelbys are fiberglass. Conveniently the trunk key was miss placed.

Every summer I get a couple of "real Shelbys weren't painted yellow" comments. I don't answer anymore, just sit there.
