Quote from: shelbydoug on February 06, 2025, 07:57:41 AMI saw this car the day it was being delivered to Grossman by Bill Kolb. Kolb was driving it up Broadway in NYC in my old neighborhood.

His tie was flapping in the breeze as he roared by. The sound of the exhausts was echoing off of the buildings.

He was headed for the West Side Highway on his way to Grossman's in Rockland County. This was the fall of 1967.

I don't remember the exact date but sometime in late October or early November.

It was the first 427 Cobra that I saw "on the street".

It put on quite a show just driving by and was early in the morning about 8:30 so the reaction of the locals was just to grimace at it and a mix of attempted ignoring it v WTF?

W 71st at that time of day is just a mix of night people crawling or staggering home and the day people trying to grab a coffee on the way to work.

The streetwalkers were already home by 8am. I knew many of them by face back then since we all grabbed coffee to go at a local shop on Amsterdam.

A few years later, John Lennon moved into the neighborhood in the "Dakota".
Great piece of history , thanks for sharing

Quote from: vtgt500 on December 29, 2024, 05:39:13 PMIs this what it's come to?  Shipping a Holley carb to fix a flip'n leaky gasket?  No wonder there's so many God-like, automotive reality shows.
Somehow I'm Not surprised  :)
