FYI--my 69 GT with 428 and my 68 GT500KR with 428 also have the sending units with the red insulator just in case anyone ever runs into this on one of those.

Thanks to everyone for help with the Boss 429 temperature sending unit issue. Especially Shelbydoug and Royce Peterson. I managed to source an OEM part (still seems weird to me I couldn't find an after market that is not correctly calibrated) and it solved the problem. The car will not be driven a lot but at least now I know if the temp gauge gets up to "H" I have a problem. I just keep learning!

Thanks again shelbydoug. Just to help with my post, would this be the same sending unit as used in a 69 428 Cobra Jat? If the Boss 429 uses the same gauge then should the sending unit be the same? Thanks, Bob

Thanks for all of your helpful comments. Would this apply to 428 Cobra Jets also? I assume the gauges are all the same? Any suggestions on where I might find the correct sending unit?

1969-1970 Boss 302/429 / 1969 Boss 429 Temperature
June 20, 2022, 08:39:02 PM
Has anyone ever confirmed the actual water temperature on a 1969 Boss 429 when the gauge sits squarely on the "H"? I am just wondering what the actual temp should be when gauge is on "H"? I am new to this car and  have tried changing the sensor and now trying to confirm if the gauge is bad.
Thanks, Bob

Up For Auction / Re: 0F02R482841 on BAT
February 22, 2022, 09:58:38 AM
Just my 1 cents worth in regards to BAT comments. I currently have a post on the "Cars Wanted" and really looking for a 67 and a 69 for my collection, however the right 70 would work. I saw nothing in the comments that scared me away from this car. I just couldn't figure out how to fit it into what I am trying to accomplish and I have located a car 500 miles away that I am working on. In regards to comments from non buyers, I would be more suspicious of buyers trying to hold prices down rather than non buyers. They are the ones with more to gain.

Want as nice, restored, preferably rotisserie as we can find. No color preference but must be color the car is born with, Numbers matching, prefer original metal, the more original parts the better, prefer automatic but 4 speed will work. We are somewhat flexible but the closer to preferences the better.  I have been collector, trader, flipper,  of what I would call slightly lower end cars for years. I am old now and trying to settle into a nicer collection to enjoy and show some in my retirement years. I am just filling in my collection. Looking for specific cars to buy. We would love to discuss anything and are somewhat flexible. You never know what might work but we just are not going to do our own restorations anymore.   If you know of anything please let me know. Thanks, Bob
