OK, FWIW...

I have 47 cars on my list. The earliest is in the late 1400's, the latest in the 2200's. Three of the earliest cars on the list have one shock tower with washers and one without. Thirty four are tightly clustered between 1600-1900.

They include restored and unrestored cars. If there was any question about whether a car was a rebody, had the front clip replaced, etc., it wasn't included.

I've been keeping a list for almost 25 years on this topic, I'll post the SAI VIN range tonight when I get home from work. The missing washers are very clustered around a fairly tight VIN range from what I have observed.

Hi Dave,

I can't remember, but do all five original ten spokes match in style?  What are your plans for the tire and wheel; leave as it; clean up and paint; put a new Blue Streak on; dismount the tire and make a hose real; hang it on the wall in your bed room?

Good deal

Cory

Hi Cory,

Yes, all wheels match. Funny, one of the first things I thought was "what do I do with it?" Considering all the options you mentioned, bedroom wall has already been vetoed...

Jim Baker, the previous owner of 6S1757 who raced it in the 70's dropped by for a visit yesterday. Jim currently lives in Anchorage and was in town for his high school reunion and visiting some friends, drove his rare option 2011 Performance Package V6 Mustang down the Cassiar Highway from Anchorage to Seattle.

In addition to a fantastic visit full of great car stories, Jim did something I'm totally blown away by...he has had the original 10-spoke spare wheel all these years and gave it to me to be with the car! Wow, what else can I can say!?

Jim said all 5 wheels were black like this with polished fins when he bought it in 1972. The tire has a 1967 date code.

Forum members,
What would be a proper date for a steering box tag ( i believe it's an HCC AX tag)
And, does anyone have one for sale or know where to get one? I checked MARTI's website, but didn't see one. It's for a later gt350 built April 66.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,

My 66 is a very late March 66 SJ scheduled build, 3/29/66 near as I can tell.  The original HCC-AX tag is dated 6C10B, it is the latest date I could find on the car.

There was a black 67 GT500 I used to see at some of the local shows north of Seattle but haven't seen it for a few years.  IIRC the owner said it was an original black car...

If you look through all the gallery pics there are some nice pics if what is described as the original engine. Has the Cobra valve cover tabs seen in later 66's, the 715 carb is dated 622.

+1 'Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof" applies here. There was NO shortage of replacement parts THEN. As I mentioned switching to a top loader requires the trans , rods and levers, lower shifter assembly ( the stick is the same) and a different speedo cable/ gear. The toploader was ( at Ford's cost too) a more expensive transmission. SAI "stocked" T-10s so it is a stretch that they replaced the original trans for a top loader. What may or may not have happened between final conversion at SAI and"first sale" . is where the extraordinary proof line comes in.
    Randy

I wasn't aware the T-10 and top loader used different speedo cables. The MPC only shows one part number for 65-66 Mustang 4-speed, C5OZ-17260-A, it doesn't mention GT350.

What are the differences?

Thanks,
Dave

Don't know why they blocked the last 3 digits of the VIN, because its down about 5 lines at the Ford serial number: 201761 ::)

Well, "they" is "me". And I forgot that one.  :-\ Where is the "I blew it" emoji when you need it?

Dave,
If you want to protect that info remove the Marti photo from the photos posted. You already helped us confirm the Shelby ID #.
:)

Good call Rich, we should always protect the Ford VIN...
