The PO who raced 6S1757 in BP during the 70's modified the suspension with Ford 11/16" rear bar and Panhard bar, and Koni's, per the Boss 302 Chassis modification guide. The suspension was otherwise stock 66 GT350. All I can say is that setup worked quite well for him, he was well know as a very good and successful driver, no accidents in all the racing he did. All those parts are still on the car today for no better reason than they are part of it's race history. I have open tracked the car several times and found it to be pretty well balanced although was certainly not pushing it too hard. I am curious about the effect disconnecting the rear bar and/or Panhard bar would have on the handling, might have to try that as a future project.

usapony,

There were no "later" 1966 4 speed cars manufactured at SAI. Last number 4 speed is 6S612.

Actually, 4-speed 66 GT350's were produced throughout 66 production, you might be thinking of factory 4-speed Hertz cars...

I looked into this hood 2 years ago when it first appeared on the Seattle Craigslist. Seller sent me a bunch of photos but I lost interest as I couldn't be certain it was an original. According to the seller it was from "car #22", I wasn't able to verify if he meant from 5022 or what. Ended up posting the info here back then...

Glad to see it has found a home.

Appeals / Re: For those still using dual point ignitions

I've used Echlin CS-756 points for many years, they are a direct replacement for Motorcraft DP-6, available at NAPA.

I gap the points at .020 and call it good.

Frank,

I have seen a number of J65 dated fans so they are out there, don't recall seeing H or K.

The original fan on 6S1757, late March 66 SJ build, is dated A66. The original block is gone but I believe it would have had a mid-Feb. 66 assembly date from what I have researched.

You can still get the choke kit from Holley....also from the usual suppliers like Jegs, Summit, etc.

Based on old discussions on the previous forum and also the Concours forum, my understanding of the C5AE ink stamped filter timeline is...

65-mid(?)66 - Silver body/Red Rotunda ink stamp
later 66 - 67 - Silver body/Red Autolite ink stamp
68-69 - Gold body/Red Autolite ink stamp
69-70 - Gold body/Black Autolite ink stamp

Is that still generally correct?

Thanks,
Dave
