I sold both of my early paxton set ups to guys on SAAC.
One had correct numbers for a 65 Shelby, the other had numbers for a 66 Shelby.
Both of these went on REAL S/C Shelby's
I discarded the pictures, these were both very complete. Should have kept the pictures.

Rubber rubbing against the alum bonnet hole is a real bad idea IMO !
Outside had a slide on fitting that hooked onto the brass fitting going inside the chamber.
I think it was rubber from the fuel pump to that fitting on the bonnet.

The unit is blue, and the carb box says Cobra, not Shelby.  I was reading on Pete disher's website that the Shelby version is much rarer.

So I have a '67 that a previous owner installed an early Paxton on.  I called Paradise Wheels and asked Craig Connely, who has always a big help to me, what the fuel line leading to the Carb box should be.  I currently have a rubber hose leading from the fuel pump to the carb box.  Mr Connely said that was correct, but online I see cars that have metal gas lines.  What is technically correct for judging, not that I ever plan to ever go that route.  I'm just curious.  I've included how the hose is connected inside the box.

Good afternoon,

I just had a conversation with a colleague who I work with in the healthcare industry.  Long story short, he saw an elderly female client today in her home.  During the visit, she claimed that she still owns an original 289 Cobra which she bought new.  Owner lives in the Upper Valley Region of New Hampshire.

Does anyone know of this car?

Are you sure she didn't mean she was the original owner of a Factory Five Cobra that she bought new?  Lol.

I'm not near my car, but want to order new universal joints.  I see for the front, there are two versions, internal lock ring and external.  Being a later production car (2386), which do you think it would have?

Thanks Bob (as always) for your knowledge.  They could very likely be repops, and they appear to be "raised edge and a panel installed in the center section" as you asked.  (I took a few more pics.).

The clear coat seems to come off cleanly and the panel below looks ok, it would take some time to due it all.

I recently picked up another '67 (long overdue to be back in the '67 club), and I've noticed that the aluminum dash and door panels have a thin clear coat that is starting to peel off in places.  I've never seen this before.  Do you think someone added it to protect them, or were they shipped that way and someone neglected to remove them?  It kind of reminds me of when I was a kid and visited my Italian grandmother's house and sat on her plastic clad couch.  Always fun on a hot summer day.  The car has a history of being restored in the early '80s by a previous owner using mostly NOS parts.  Did Ford sell their service replacement panels that way back then?

To further complicate the matter, the old man signed the dash panel and I can't tell if it was pre or post rap, not that losing his John Hancock would be all that devastating to me.  Like the rest of you, I probably have 20 other things signed by him.

Thanks guys, the thought of driving any real distance on bias ply-s is pretty scary to me.

It's been a while since I've looked into this subject, but what are most people doing to simulate the look of either large or small lettered Speedways for the '67s (heck and '68's technically) on a much better driving radial tire than the bias ply tires currently offered?  I remember hearing some people had taken Avons and added 'Tire Tatoos' to mimic the letters.  Anyone currently selling them?

I noticed that the hood on your car is bowed out. I had a similar problem with a fiberglass hood on my truck that bowed out because of the strong springs on it. I took them off and then had the truck sit out in the sunlight with a bunch of weight on it And after a couple of days, it went back to original form. Just something to consider if you haven't already tried it. Beautiful car by the way.

If you ever see a '67 with a perfect hood (no bow, excellent gaps), you know it's far from being original.  But it's one of many quirks true 1967 Shelby fans love about these cars.  When I owned car 83, I couldn't believe the poor quality of build pertaining to anything that Shelby American completed compared to what came from San Jose.  The welds looked like a drunk Boyscout did them, and the rear taillight cutouts for the Cougar units looked like they were cut by a can opener.

I'm very grateful for everyone who made the trip to our spring event.  The vineyard is an amazing place and I am so grateful to have spent sometime there with my friends.  I love the idea of returning our spring event to museum, but perhaps we could consider having a fall event (starting 2026) at Shelton?  I can't think of a more beautiful area to be in the fall.

I'm looking at a '56 little bird and wondered if anyone on this forum is located nearby?  It doesn't have to be a professional evaluation, just a good set of eyes.  Car is located in  Cleveland, TN
