Funny how if someone came up to any of you and mistook you for being under 21 years old at a bar, you would be completely flattered.  Yet we're 'offended' by the Newbie status?  I would think people like Bob, Vern, Pete, Jeff, JD, Jim, etc, really wouldn't be too concerned.  Anyone is anyone already knows you guys are 'da man' in this hobby!

I'm much more concerned with where the popcorn emoji went?

Richstang and I strongly believe that the Shelby seen in the Detroit Auto Show in late '66 is no 003.
Interestly, in the pics it doesn't have a flat gas cap, but it has a GT one instead. You could argue that it was stolen at the show, like the upper red scoop light lens appear to have been, but car 0145 was bought by it's original owner with a GT cap also.  Gives you some doubt as to whether or not 003 ever got one?

Lastly, Check out the unique 1969 Rose colored Mach 1.

Hunter also now owns this unique 1968 Mustang color code WT9810.  I remembered seeing it previously on the excellent Coralsnake website:

It needs work, but I love it.

Today, I visited my friend Hunter Willard, well know Shelby restorer.  It's always fun to see what he has in his shop.  So I just wanted to post some pictures of this really cool 1969 Shelby that is owned by a customer of his.  This gentleman has owned it since 1974.  Hunter tells me this is not 'Grabber Yellow', but instead it is a WT code car.  This yellow is much brighter than Grabber in person.  Hands down one of the coolest Shelby's I've ever seen.  Pretty sure it's rare according to the Coralsnake:

Adding A/C in Texas, good idea.

Spotted this in the toy store today.  Not bad looking considering they're made from Lego.

Can anyone tell me more about this feature.  Is '67 the first year for it?  I know both double digits I've owned have it, but about when did it stop?  It's just supposed to light up, no sound, correct?  I'm just checking if it's working right.

Charles,

Are you sure they didn't just use some Oxiclean?  Bill Mays would be very proud.

Tilt wheel (in pixs) - I do not believe that I have ever seen a factory-installed tilt wheel in a 1967 Shelby - SGB

Maybe it was owned by Shelby himself, and he needed the tilt to get around his girth?

Rich,

If no. 22 has a Shelby American completion date of 11/5/66, then why didn't it come with upper red scoop lights?

Are there any GT500's that are definitely known to have been delivered with upper red scoop lights, besides car no. 100 (Engineering car, 1st GT500) and V7382 (Shelby Prototype)?

Would you rather have a 'Bentley' or a 'Shelby'?

Adriano,

You certainly have nothing to apologize for.  'Air cars' is a term used in this hobby to describe a vehicle thats history is doubtful.  More specifically, when an entire car is assembled from one piece of an original Shelby.  Like finding a Shelby Vin Plate and building an entire Shelby from it.  Conversely, sometimes an original car could have sustained damaged, like an original Cobra being raced and having a significant amount of its body work replaced due to an accident.  Years later, someone 'finds' the discarded parts and decides to build a Cobra out of them.  Now you have an 'air car'.  This phenomenon isn't limited to Shelbys.  Ferraris and Jaguars suffer with the same affliction, as I'm sure many other Marques do.

Hello Everyone,

Here is part of an out-take photo taken by Motor Trend on 12/12/66 that shows the '66 style door sill emblem on 0100.

Thanks,
Eric

Great picture Eric.
