I was recently contacted by a young man who is getting married on August 31, 2024 in Cary, NC.  He is marrying a young lady named Shelby.  I'm sure you can see where this is going.  It seems his father-in-law to be is a huge car fan and named his daughter after 'ol Shelby.  (Not the first time that's happened, I'm sure)

He is searching for someone who owns an original classic Shelby, preferably a 4 seater (a convertible even better!), who could drive them from the wedding ceremony to the reception, about 15 mins of driving time and 7.5 miles.  Also, he would gladly 'donate' money to the owner for their time and effort.

Is anyone interested in helping out and being a true ambassador of the Shelby car hobby?

I though you sold your '67??  Did you buy it back??

By now hopefully everyone is aware that we are NOT having a spring event.  Unfortunately, we were unable to host the event at our previous location at the Hickory Veterans' Museum as a change in directorship made it unavailable to anyone.  We are currently looking at an early fall event at a North Carolina winery or similar venue.  We will keep everyone informed as details become clearer. 

I would also like to hear from members who would like to attend the Americarna Event this year as a group.  Americarna Live is a huge car event hosted by Ray Evernham to raise money for adults with Autism.   If we have a large enough amount of classic Shelbys, I can try and get us located in the VIP section of the show like we did previously.  Please reach out to me if you are interested, the date is late Fall, November 30th, 2024.

Finally, There is a Shelby Day being hosted at the Morrisville (Durham, really) Cars and Coffee location.  It is slated for Saturday, June 1st, 2024 if anyone is interested.  Be warned that this Cars and Coffee is the largest in the state and it can be more of a circus than a car event.  Our local Ferrari and Rolls Royce dealerships bring cars for display, and arriving early is paramount!  Reply here if you have any interest in attending.  It is located at 5425 Page Road, Durham, NC

Today the SAAC Carolina's club with the help of Hagerty's Insurance was invited to tour the Hendrick's Heritage Center in Charlotte, NC.  Wow.  Words can't really describe that place.  Imagine if you suddenly inherited a multi-million dollar fortune and then decided to purchase every classic and modern car that ever struck your fancy.  Then put them all on display in a huge indoor building and it just about begins to come close to the collection on display at the Hendrick Heritage Center.  Many thanks go to Hagerty and their local representative Paul Kaperonis, as well as Morgan Beauregard at the Speedway Club where we had a wonderful lunch afterwards.  Also the event wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the tireless efforts of SAAC Carolina's member Stan Simm.  Thanks Stan.

I would post tons of photos of all the rarest and amazing cars that were there, but the Heritage Center has a strict policy of no pictures or even cell phones allowed inside the facility.

It depends on what type of work you are in need of.  I would highly recommend Hunter Williard in Walnut Cove.  He is an amazing Shelby/Mustang/Mopar restorer with the accolades to prove it.  He also can get minor repairs done or at least direct you in the correct path.  Hunter is a true professional, and I am proud to call him a friend. 

If it is pure engine/transmission related, then SAAC Carolinas member John Callis is the man to speak with.  He is located in the Charlotte area too.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the Palm Event, a charity car show/brunch/fashion show at President Trump's place Maralago in Palm Beach, Florida.  Shelby Research Group (SRG) founder Brian Styles is on the board and had invited my wife and myself to attend.  Maralago is truly a beautiful venue to hold an event, and seeing 45 in person is pretty cool no matter what your political leanings are.  I uploaded some pics if anyone is interested.  No shortage of Ferrari's I might add.

Maybe it was because Adam Levine previously owned it.  It's hard to get that guy's songs out of your head. 

Holy cow, did you all see the final price of this car at auction?  $270,000!  I didn't expect that.

There is a guy who sells them on ebay, I picked one up for the heck of it knowing it was probably something sold at gas stations in the '80s or something.  Looks to me like it's off a truck.
