Yes, this is THE uber rare vintage Shelby collectible that everyone who owns a 1965 Shelby GT350 knows about.  It is an original, unsent 1965 Shelby GT350 post card.  If you collect Shelby memorabilia, than you know what this is.  What makes it even better is it came in a Tasca Ford envelope with an enclosed business card from High Performance Parts Specialist Glenn Tiberiis.  Tasca Ford of East Providence, RI. 

Tasca Ford, the home of the Cobra Jet and seller of many 'golden age' vintage Shelbys is one of the best know dealerships from back in the day.  Check out the back of the envelope, it has a full color depiction of the Tasca Ford Dealership.  So cool!  If you own a Shelby from Tasca, or just ever dreamed you did, this is your opportunity.  You probably won't get another chance to purchase such a fine example again.  This item comes from a non-smoker's home and well known vintage Shelby memorabilia collector.

I picked up this California black plate about 8 years ago.  The guy sold it to me via eBay, and said he wasn't sure where he got it, but that it was on his garage wall for 30 plus years. Can anyone help me identify which dealer it corresponds with?  Having the Downtown Ford ring on it, obviously doesn't mean it's from there, but it would be cool if it were.

I did research that black plates were originally used in California from 1963 to 1969, the golden years in our hobby.

       This is just a friendly reminder for you to start taking pictures of your favorite Shelby ride for inclusion in the upcoming 2026 SAAC Carolinas member's rides calendar.  The higher the resolution, the better and uniquely themed pics stand a better chance at snagging the coveted holiday months.

This year's calendar will be on better, glossy paper and will once again include all the fun birthday facts related to our hobby.  For instance, did you know Lee Iacocca would have been 99 years old on October 15th this year.  Who knows, maybe when they preserved his body on ice (e.g. Walt Disney), they put him in a Ford Mustang or a Chrysler Mini-Van.

Does anyone plan on attending the Mustang Owner's Museum in Charlotte North Carolina this Saturday, October 11, 2025 for their all Fords car show? It is supposed to begin at 9 AM.

So I'm back with another Paxton question.  My car (not an original Paxton car) does have a unit dated to 2/10/1967 and according to Dave was installed by a previous owner back in 1980. My question is about the label on it.  I believe it should look like the picture posted with the round Cobra logo.  When was the CS logo used as found on my unit? 

I was at Hobby Lobby today and spotted two things fellow enthusiasts like us might like for our man caves.  First was a nice 24" x 24" print of a nightmist 1967 GT500 on canvas.  Price is only $36.99.







I like everything about it except the front license plate with the prancing Mustang logo on it.  Aside from that, it kinda reminds me of Michael (2112)'s car 0875, a personal favorite of mine.

Second is a 12" x 15" metal sign of a 1968 GT350, more specifically car 0020.  It only cost $5.99.







I found it rather odd that they would include the full VIN plate for the 1968, but I guess it's a well known car and the current owner (Ken Carlson of Tacoma, WA) has nothing to worry about.  Still, would you let them pust your VIN plate on the sign?  Am I just being paranoid (as usual)?

A Call to Action

This is an open invite to anyone in our club who would like to participate in an upcoming event. On Tuesday, October 7, Jerry Heasley of internet and automobile book fame will be filming his latest video for his Barn Finds series in Raleigh, North Carolina. Brian Styles, the creator/director/savant of the 1967 Shelby Research Group will be uncovering a car previously lost to the world.  One that has not seen the light of day since 1987.  It's a 1967 GT 500, no. 0244, and it's been sitting in a garage, somewhat in pieces, in Raleigh, North Carolina .   Brian will be using this as a teaching moment for Jerry's audience about what to look for when finding, inspecting and validating long lost Shelbys.

Ideally, we would like between six and eight classic Shelby's there to show support.   It should be a lot of fun to participate in the event, and Brian has offered to give everyone who participates a 1967 Shelby Research Group mouse pad, a much sought after item that makes the perfect holiday gift for that someone special in your life who loves Shelbys.  If you are interested and would like to be there, please reach out to me and RSVP. I will give you all the details and we can go from there.   

What do you all use to glue the fender emblems and gas cap emblem on?  Obviously the NOS adhesive is long dead.

So I have a '67 that a previous owner installed an early Paxton on.  I called Paradise Wheels and asked Craig Connely, who has always a big help to me, what the fuel line leading to the Carb box should be.  I currently have a rubber hose leading from the fuel pump to the carb box.  Mr Connely said that was correct, but online I see cars that have metal gas lines.  What is technically correct for judging, not that I ever plan to ever go that route.  I'm just curious.  I've included how the hose is connected inside the box.

I'm not near my car, but want to order new universal joints.  I see for the front, there are two versions, internal lock ring and external.  Being a later production car (2386), which do you think it would have?

I recently picked up another '67 (long overdue to be back in the '67 club), and I've noticed that the aluminum dash and door panels have a thin clear coat that is starting to peel off in places.  I've never seen this before.  Do you think someone added it to protect them, or were they shipped that way and someone neglected to remove them?  It kind of reminds me of when I was a kid and visited my Italian grandmother's house and sat on her plastic clad couch.  Always fun on a hot summer day.  The car has a history of being restored in the early '80s by a previous owner using mostly NOS parts.  Did Ford sell their service replacement panels that way back then?

To further complicate the matter, the old man signed the dash panel and I can't tell if it was pre or post rap, not that losing his John Hancock would be all that devastating to me.  Like the rest of you, I probably have 20 other things signed by him.

It's been a while since I've looked into this subject, but what are most people doing to simulate the look of either large or small lettered Speedways for the '67s (heck and '68's technically) on a much better driving radial tire than the bias ply tires currently offered?  I remember hearing some people had taken Avons and added 'Tire Tatoos' to mimic the letters.  Anyone currently selling them?

I wasn't sure where this car would best fit in on the forum, so I picked here.  This past weekend I had the privilege of attending the Palm Event in Palm Beach, Florida.  It is held to benefit A Place Of Hope, a charity for abused women and children in South Florida.  It's my third year attending and as in the past, it is held at Mar-a-Lago, President Trump's house. 

While I was there, I ran into Steve Johns who brought his 1967 King Cobra Can Am Race Car.  I believe that this is one of those Shelbys that most folks have minimal knowledge about, I certainly did.  When I heard the name 'King Cobra' I always thought of the original 1963 race car based on a lightweight Cooper T61 Monaco sports car. 

After the historic Ford win of 1966, Shelby thought more about branching out into the competitive CanAm race circuit, so he outsourced the building of 3 new cars to Len Terry (formerly of Lotus) in England.  According to Colin Comer's Complete Book of Shelby Automobiles, Shelby American took possession of these cars and tweaked them as expected.  They added Ford horsepower to chassis number 1 and took it racing.  It didn't fair very well, racing only twice, crashing and finally being stripped of it's usable parts.  Chassis number 2 was sold off and raced by a private owner/driver, and it still exists today. 

This car, chassis number three, has the original doors and air splitter off of the original raced car no. 1.  It has an experimental Dan Gurney XE 351 engine with Gurney Weslake heads and Weber 48 IDA carbs. It may not have seen any race action under the Shelby American banner, but it's current care taker claims it to be "the last race car ever produced by Shelby American". (I'm sure that will be challenged by someone, lol).  I just thought you all might want to see the pics. Enjoy!
