1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / cast iron t-10
February 23, 2021, 12:13:07 PM
Is there any difference in my 66 Shelby cast iron trans. and regular production transmissions?  As far as gears, input shafts? I have owned a few aluminum case trans. and sometimes they would pop out of 2nd gear. Is that common?

No 45 had the rear quarter antenna with a long cable to the radio. Like a dummy I plugged the hole and threw the cable away. I installed a radio and heater delete. Who listens to the radio or drives a 65 Shelby in the winter in Oh. Posted an old pic Steve Yates gave me when I purchased the car. Hope this helps.

Enjoyed 30 some years of working with Jim on my restorations. Always helpful with info and parts. Just made a purchase last summer, we talked about a half hour about old times. Was worried at that time about Covid. I guess something else took him. Rest in Peace.

Maybe find an original tach. Not sure about the oil pressure. My originals all had a colored needles. Pkg. tray painted white inside the trunk? Nice car though, I would own it.

Just trying to add some humor with my earlier post. I have said before I think they all should be saved. It is only money, they print new every day. But the cars of the past  are the what SA is all about .  Lets face it this car will need a restoration. And it could be restored with all Ford sheet metal. And I hope the new owner can do most of the work .  Just look at this forum, people here sell nos sheet metal all the time. Buy a CA. coupe and go at it. Wouldnt have to be a rebody. 6 months it could be on the road again.

Instead of a resto mod that is a rusto mod. How much is rust worth a pound? I think maybe will drive my cars in the salt. Should increase in value. Right?

I agree with Mr. Turner. A rust free donor would be great. I have restored several Mustangs And Shelbys over the years. Spent 3 years restoring a K code 66 GT convertible. Traded that for #750 A 66 Shelby. Would love to restore this car. But would have to be sure the numbers add up. Never paid a shop so dont know the cost. It does have some good parts, not all bad. But myself I would have to verify all serial #s with Howard before a purchase. I think they all should be saved.

Wrong Intake its a repop S1ms, replacement carb alt pulley wrong. Unusable steering wheel. List goes on. Look closely at the stamped 6S# that is not a 13 looks like 17 traction bars rusted off the rear frames. Its sad what we used to pay for very clean cars and what is out there now to choose from. At much higher. prices. I could do the work but what is the final product? A chopped rebuilt welded up Shelby. And could you take it out and really drive it? Good luck to the new owner.

Appeals / Can anyone identify this t pan?
October 06, 2020, 05:57:49 PM
It is an fe pan. Has 4 internal flappers or trap doors to control the oil. I have owned a couple Aviads in the past. Looks like an Aviad, because of the shape. Rounded sides not square. Welding looks very professional. Could it be road race Cobra, Nascar ? Thanks for any help. Tom

1965 GT350/R-Model / 045 factory frame markings

x on the frame by the 3 steering box bolts, Some 65s I see at conventions have the dk up higher on the radiator support. When was the change made on the assy. line?

1965 GT350/R-Model / 5s045 in action

Here is an early photo Steve Yates gave me of 045. Check out the extended antenna on rear quarter panel. Also the chrome reverse rear wheels with slicks.  And had dual standard 65 Mustang door mirrors.

I agree. Over the years have owned at least 3 different configurations of the wheels. The 16 inch and a couple of 15 inch wheels. One style of spokes had holes and the other type was the slotted. I prefer the 16 inch with aluminum hub.
