1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Adjustment of 715 carb
August 27, 2025, 08:26:32 AM
If I restored it, email me or whatever and we can work through it.

If I didn't, honestly you should contact the builder, it's kinda on them to walk you through this.

I can still help via msg, first thing to do is set mixture hot.
Lotsa folks do it cold and wonder why engine doesn't perform as expected hot.

Wow.

So no one here adjusts the curve on their mechanical advance.

Quote from: trotrof1 on July 30, 2025, 03:45:54 PMHave you ever seen a clean real 66 minus a tach? A gorgeous blonde, a Ford product, Throw in aged Bourbon and a machine gun and the lefties would be positively suicidal. Heck Im just thrilled it wasn't a Vette.

There has already been some negative comments about the commercial.  I do not understand how those folks can be upset by a commercial.  More important events worldwide.

Honestly this is a modern problem.
.001% of the population complains about something loudly and 100% of the "starved for content" media amplifies it.
Same idea when 12 people protest something and camera angles and the media story makes you think they are burning down the city in protest.

No one really cares. Talking more about it tends to just give it power.

Ask the experts here about sizing. I've only had one person request the 5/16 for a GT500.
As you know, I'm not exactly a Shelby expert, so I leave that deliberation up to others.

And yes Bob, the ones I have are from Weatherford, most of them have the original W and name stamped on them.

I've got a handful of originals but I'll need to be home to find them if it's "that kinda car."

Worth the price of the bowls these days...
The reissue 3259-1 is a a decent copy of the original and will run the same. Some reproductions are absolutely not.

I say good score, toss a kit at it and run it!

For being an authority on the subject, his carburetor knowledge is embarrassing.

Good for me I guess.

Quote from: 67 GT350 on December 19, 2024, 09:03:33 PMDrew, I would like a what I think is a Boss 302 carburetor to be restored/rebuilt. are your rebuilds test bench run? Can I just bolt it back on and it will be fully opperationalbe ?

Sorry I missed this comment.
I test every carb. Nit really sure what a test bench run is, I run these on engines.
That said, it's a leak check and making sure everything is adjustable.
Choke settings, float height, mixture, idle speed, etc all still need to be done on your car. I wouldn't want anyone to think I "tune" the carb for end use, simply put that isn't possible, I just get it close to baseline settings.

I probably have 1,500 test videos on my airfuelspark fb page.

So I read the link. Seemed a little "off"
Being here in the middle of it, I do kinda understand asking outsiders to hold back or coordinate with others.

My wife runs a church, she fed 200+ people yesterday.
Great stuff, but at the same time she is wasting a lot of energy and local resources managing folks who are well intentioned.
Examples:
-Dumptruck load of diapers and assorted supplies show up, delivered and everyone left. The local volunteers are on bikes because their cars are totaled. No way to distribute. Will likely end up in a dumpster after the first rain.
-someone towed a portable shower unit that needs management, electricity and water. None is available, probably best thing is to park it somewhere and forget about it... Meanwhile my wife is out at 7:30 coordinating that mess.

Appreciated, but honestly please remember the folks volunteering to deal with this often don't have water or power at home, they have their own drama they are trying to manage.
In one case a work crew showed up, but they all need to be housed and fed by people who have no housing or food...
So guess I'm saying it's complicated.

For folks out in the country, it's gonna be awhile, maybe a month before they get power and water, and now the prospect of Milton and the already overworked lineman and other folks.  Daunting situation for sure.

The most useful folks show up with a tent and a chain saw.  Just bodies available to do whatever, we will be hosting 3 dudes tomorrow for that. But still logistics, getting it set up for them to do the best work takes time and energy.

Yes, south Georgia (where I live) was rocked pretty hard.
We are mostly fine now, the focus on NC/TN flood stuff is way more critical at this time.
