Thanks for seeking the source

Hopefully someone have a solution...

The Video / the Pics where surley made pretty early on LAX,

we see only one outside paint booth installed under the open hangar roof
and we see very few GT350 parked in the first lane of the finished Car parking lot
and we see the little building in the backround, at the end of blast wall,
later in 65, the Buidling was removed

CSX 3118 was definitely a 4-speed initially.

Thank you very much, in my old 87 Registry stands it was an C6 automatic or better, it was sold as C6 Automatic car...

So, you say it was shipped to LAX at April 65, can you say how when work was finished and how long it stay in SAI
befor sell to the first owner ?

That would very help to narrow down the possible Timecode when it was CSX3118

thanks a lot

Hello and thank you for your replys

@Cobra_Ned

thanks for your thought on CSX3118, it would fit perfect but was it a automatic or a Shifter?

the Car in the Picture is for sure a Shifter, the automatics (only 4 build, right?) have a T-Handle Bar ?

@98SVT-was 06GT

Good Eye, this is exact the Point were the Gas Pumps stand

i searched for ours for "Chevron" PR-Shots or Advertisment, i only found this Ad but it is a different Plate, no Pic from
the Shooting is showed and a different Gas Pump

i came not on the idea to contact such a big company for some Pics 50+ years ago...

The Shelbys in the Backround are fresh GT350 "R" or Comeption, they waited to made to R-Configuration

Hello together,

i hope to find more information about the Cobra shown on the Pics from Gas Station in LAX

- the 65 GT350 i cant identify
- both cars wears License Plates
- the Cobra has 1? DLR 4101 License Plate, which means it was registerd at "Hi-Performance Cars"
  from Shelby and Lew Spencer

i am not very good in all the technial things but i try to named it

- the car has a dark paint, maybe black
- the car wears halibrand wheels
- it is not a automatic
- it is a street model

is that engine setup normal or something special ?

When we found the Number of the Car, i can read the Time Frame when the shooting
was made on the LAX, which should be a good story for my LAX Thread.

Thanks for all, any thoughts are welcome

Greetings from Germany

Hello all together ...

thanks for the very kindly answers, and your interest
in our work.

I personally always have the most interest in the LAX Pics and History, maybe because i liked
the 65 and 66 GT350 (and 427 Cobra, GT40) for my all time favourite.

I have a lot of luck that mostly Rich is willing and able to have Emailcontact and he can always
bring one more thing on the table i searched hours, days, weeks befor with no success.

I tryed several time to get a lot more deeper in the rabbit hole with people that have more access to
Shelby-Files, Pics or something else.

Sometimes i get help but often i get even no email back.

The Petersen Archiv is such a site where i never recieved a answer on my request.
But i will totally believe this was after the nice Person was fired from the job.

it would be my kind of dream to have such boxes to scan and describ, to the new old pics and find
the stories within.
Boy, i would do it for free for a while :-D

Whenever i get a database like the Henry Ford, Petersen and such other i try to find all which is interest for me,
my bad luck is that i often have new themes and look over hours the same files again, again and again.

The Petersen was very helpfull to find totally new stuff, please they that "nice Man" a mega huge Thank you, show am
my work which is based on his work and could never be done without him...

It was very, very helpfull for the early GT350 production inside the Carter Ave. Building

and for LAX it have this files which also must be very early befor the production or even 1 other Car was standing
on LAX, one of the "unturned Stones" Timecodes

For the hole "OPEN HOUSE" Event i worked nearly 2 years (with brakes) to get a full story with a
lot of backround information on it... it is unfinised at the moment.

They where a lot of people invited, but i suggest more for Re Sale the Cars, the other day for some family public
and the other day only for the ford executives. Some newspaper bring articels a few days later...

No "Big Magazin" i know bring anything from the open house event, but the Edition from Petersen have
always a really good access in all the Cars which is more important to do a test drive or a articel about.

Let i say befor, i worked on this and hopefully can bring it on the table here...

i have no list for Executive Members, i only realize about 5-10 People when i see it on pics,
a big lack on research then often the sons or family of the SAI Members keep the legacy alive with
great information and pics.

Thanks again for your replys

Hello all together,

After a while i will try to post something i research a while

I have a lot of lose Pics, sometimes i can sorted it togehter because of the same motive or
other details.

Sadly for only a minimum i have correct Timecode and can back or forward from this on.

Sometimes i have luck and found a Pic with a date ...
and so i can posted here.

First i have only the Pic with the Twins, the Cobra and the Daytona Coupe

Then i found a little more from the twins...

and a little later i found a articel in a Riverside Raceway Magazing,
so we know the Name and the motive for the Shooting

but at last and most importent i found a correct Timecode

My thoughts about that...

-for the hole time i thought it was an Advertisment for American Airlane, pretty much work for only presenting to race categories on one Race,
but i found nothing more about more Advertisment from the Twins.

-but for my LAX Thread the most important is that we dont see any GT350 in the Backround,
but it nearly the same Point and angle that later the cars stand on the other well known pics,
we see clearly the Small Building at the End of the Blast Wall.

so the Cars still was produced in the Carter Ave. Building at this point of Timecode.

the Birdview Pic must be later

the 30+x GT350 in a Row Pic must be later
this Pic was also in the 65 Press Kit.

i look for help for the last Pic to get a good timecode, or a higher resolution to read the Numbers
on the Windshield Papers, maybe someone here who reads and want to help can share someting

Thats all for the Moment, i hope i can come fast back to share more well researched stuff.

Thanks for your replys

Sadly that nowbody answer or share a higher resolution Pic from the People who have one ...

I always thought a forum is to share things, and not to hold it back when you have something to share.

only my thoughts, nothing personal

Hello,

after a while and inspired by an articel i read in the SAAC Magazin about some Carryover Cars i would
like to ask if anybody has tryed to read the Numbers on the Windshield Papers from this famous
LAX Pic

the Pic is in the 1965 Press Pack which was given to sales staff on 1965 06 08 Open House Event

i would also liked to ask if someone has a really good High resolution Version of this Pic...

Thanks for any help and thoughts

Always a pleasure to can give some help,
even it was only 1 Windowsticker...

Maybe it would also work with the production or shipping dates from the Window Sticker / Cars you have,
because the Cars was not produced Vin by Vin even the Window Stickers cames on the cars right befor
delieverd to the Dealers, didnt it ?

But the hole "Window Sticker" and "Invoice" Paperwork is really new to me and i have a lot to learn about it.

#40
Hey,

cool Thread, cool Theme
a little bit nerdy stuff,
for me personal more interesting like discuss different cables or batterys
for the Shelby

i collect Invoice when i found on the www...

Windowstickers i have only 2 in my collection.

From 6 S 1090 i would assumed it is origin

From 6 S 1882 i am not sure it is origin or a repro one

looking forward for your answer

Thanks all for your answers ...

i also did research and found some more Backround Infos and have some thoughts ...

@Cobra Ned
- thanks for that answer, that comes quickly

i have the Cover from a french magazine from June 1966, who also feature the Cobra

For the GT350:

i also assumed (together with Richstang) that i could possible that the Street GT350 from the Brussels Motor Show
could be the same as in the Mag, i agree to see a GT350 Badge on the rear view Pic

For the Car in the Mag i read in the Article that is has a Borg Warner T10 4 Speed Transmission

here a Pic from the Motor Show, side view ...

and a PR Folder that was given at the Motor Show from Ford Belgium

and for the Aera where the Test was:

it was at LOMMEL, Belgium, new opend in 1965 and one of the largest Proving Test Grounds, used from Ford Belgium,
is has a lot of Wood around and a lot of Space for testing, still exist today

More Thoughts looking for answers...

How Many Carryovers was given to FAV or known to specific country (Swiss, Belgium, France, Italy?) ???

one new found ...

1G DLR 4101 appears on a red 289 Cobra on August 64 "Car Life" Test with a C2 Vette

Hello,

after a while i found this "New to me" Car Mag seen on Ebay French ...

i found the Cover really nice and hoped for more Pics inside, i bet a lot of money for it and
when it come from French i was a little bit dissapointed ...

Only 3 Pics from a Shelby GT350 ...

But i found out more and more of the Mag, a little bit of the Story and want to share with you,
to hope found found something new for you and more Information for me...

A Win-Win Situation

First of all, the Mag is written in French, BUT it is a BELGIUM Mag (French is one of 3 official language in Belgium)
the Cover Shoot looks really nice to me

inside it have not only the GT350 Story, also there is a CS Biography and a Cobra / GT40 Test
here a quick overview

and now the interesting Part, the riddles and the fun begins ...

Normally in other Euro Car Mag i have, the importeur (Intersport, Performance Cars LTD) shows a advertisment,
i hope to found something else in this Mag...
Was i found was a 66 GT350 Advertisment, but no Importeur or Ford Belgium was written to contact ...

the "Street Test" Shows only ONE Pic from the GT350 backside ...
a lot of unkown things apear ...

i see the round little reflectors about the back lights but the Stickers are totally unkown for me ...
(Exepct the round Cobra Sticker), also the License Plate is unkown to me

What i see it is a Carryover Car and from the Cover it has Cragars mounted...

The GT350 Story ends here ...
Luckywise there is a text about Shelby Cars over all and we see the Cobra 427 Streetcar
what we see is a "photomontage" of a GT350 Competition reflected on the GT350's door.

please noted the on the side of the Cobra is also showed the same, unkown sticker
as in the rear of the GT350

The Best Site is in colour and shows the GT350 driven hard, the Cobra on Full Speed and the GT40 #97 rolling
Wonderfull Pics in motion...

on the GT350 we can see the Rear Site in Colour that shows us the sticker a little bit more
but not good enough to identify for me.

the Cobra 427 wears english license Plate (like i see it on PR Cars from F.A.V like the GT40 street cars)

and the GT40

So, what do you think, what do you know or even suggested...
Can you identify the cars by here Vin ?

Share your thoughts with me

At the End i am happy to buyed and have fun together with you
