Hey Dave,

i hope you will get an answer for the Pic and your seeking on your special car...

I can only say that both Pics 100% are time correct pics and no replika or newer date made.

The black GT350 wears an __ MFG 013 Plate on the Pic and the Cobra is also well known in other Pics,
the GT40 is not known for me...

Please let me know any new result of your search, even when i took more time

I had forgotten all about this thread and recently found it again. I thought that I might have already identified to car and checking my 1966  GT350 Hertz files I came across a new recent picture of a car with this same plate number and identified the car as 6S1984. It looked to be an original CA plate, so I have listed it as such in my records. Does anyone know who owns 6S1984 to confirm?

Hey,

could you post the other Car from your file, with the same License Plate ?

Hello,

i will try to bring some life in this thread...

This time we find a solution from one question Richstang and i was looking for, we had some shots from the follow pics
but wasnt able to find the video/movie these pics was shown ...

By pur coincedence i look a 4 part video on youtube and find exactly these pics from very early time on LAX

The video showes about 3 sequence for LAX, i will show the Pics and give some explanation for each set of pics.

Any thought or comment is welcome, hope you have fun...

First set of Pics

clearly LA Airport  with the look over the Blast Wall on Planes and the Theme Building

then it shows the Caravan with the big COBRA Letters on it, standing under the roof of the later Show/Race Hangar,
please note that only one paint booth was finished at this point ... 2 two Cobras and 1 Mustang Hardtop standing

one important thing for a later Timecode, at the end of the Caravan you can see for less then 1 second some
bare Cobras standing, this means that the first of later 427 Racecobras was already here

The next set/sequence shows some / first / early GT350 standing on the "Finished GT350 Parking Lot" Area,
i can see that at the End of the row, 1 GT350 is on one side jacked up,
i count 15 GT350, with about 7 has Top Stripes ...

Maybe some thoughts from me to this Pics ...

I think that these Movie was made after this Pic, where no Paint Booth was installed

and befor this one, you can see a lot more of finished GT350 ... and the bare Cobras of course

more Pics from the Footage coming soon ...

Hello again,

i came up with two known Plates, but find on other cars then known

The Pic shows the 1st 427 Race Car from around November 1964 before the Venice Shop.

I found it in a good high resolution ...

on the 1965 Ford Country Squire Wagon (seems pretty brand new ? )
is 2E MFG 013 --- this is the first sight of this plate

on the Mustang Convertible
is 2L MFG 013 the plate later is see on 5007, the 10.000 Mile Test Car from John Christy

Thanks all for the other answers and

VERN, thank for the information, very good to know the Name of the Employee

The R Modell could be 5R528 because it was finished at the same timecode the Cobra is showed,
but i want to check this more in the Details.

Szabo,

MANY Thanks - Well Done!! I appreciate it very much.

Sadly though, this revelation means that I will not be able to acquire this article and stitch those pages together! Because of the almost-'unacquirable' publication in which they are contained!

Alas, one of the most regretful incidents of my Shelby life is having a brand new copy of that book in my hands at a Road America / Elkhart Lake, Wis. Shelby event, and passing on it because of its then princely price tag of $125. I just couldn't make myself pull the trigger at that time...

I have been reliving that forehead slap moment every day I have looked back on it since then.

Thanks again for your help!
This now becomes another chapter in that infamous moment from my past.

Kieth

Hello Kieth, always a big pleasure when i am, as a youngster in the Shelby Game, can find something

i do also a little research by the book, BOY, why it is so expensive meanwhile
but dont be sad, we all missed chances in the past
How many person had the chance to buy a Shelby in the past 50 Years for less than 250,000 bucks and
even more today.

Maybe you have the chance that someone have the book and let you make a good scan, if i had it
and did live in USA, i would do it ... One Hand wash the other.

i also love your work of these very good scanned articel and the overwork you do to that scans.

For one other project i send you a pm, maybe you can anser me

Thanks to all for the Identification of CSX 3016

So i am thinking to have a pretty good Time Code here when the Pic was made.

after the San Francisco Auto Show ( 1965 11 18 to 1965 11 30) which the Car was as Show Car
the Car was prepared as Race Car for Bob Grossman from New York
The car was finished 1966 02 25 and shipped 3 days later to Nyack, NY

Because the Car looks so fresh finished i think that only the Time Code 1965 02 25 +max. 3 Days
can be right.

VERY GOOD FOR ME; Thanks for all

What about the "R Model" and the Cars in the Backround to say i am surley not clear
Black or Green, even Blue would be possible, it is to far and bad resolution about these Details

only about 30 Cars are black / white stripes after all

i have one other Pic from a black Non-Hertz GT350 with a MFG 013 license Plate on SAI
and i have a little other one from nearly the same spot but it is very small and shows a dark GT350
in the Backround ( of course i seek the Time Code for these one too)

ANY Thoughts on this one ??? Which Cobras stands here, which timecode ???

Hello together,

i have found a nice coloured Pic of a Race Cobra an a very empty LAX backround,
of course i found no time code but this is what am i looking for...

I think it could be CSX 3016 ???

the car was unsold , then a Show Car and then sold to Bob Grossmann

but i also heard that it could be CSX2022 or CSX3106 ????

on the set of this Pics i also found a GT350 R Model pic from i think was also made
at the same time and location ...

Any Ideas and Comments are welcome.

Detailed Pic
very empty for the hole finished Production Aera where normally stands rows of GT350

same car, same location but in black/white with no backround

and the "R" Model GT350 with the same location, same time frame

with more backround, which i think is the same location as the first pic of the Cobra

Cant get a good answer but would like to say that this Chuck Cantwell book is very
fine, with great pics and very good written.

I also have it (hard to get in Germany)

The Pics of the Press Pac are closley make between 1965 05 21 and 1965 05 25

the "Staged Photo" Theme is new to me ... but i guess it was closley after working has started
on LAX and so everything is nice and clean ...
when i look on the other Pic from the same shooting i find to much people working
and things lay around for a really staged pic.

A little bit long for a reply but some themes are never get to old ...

I found a Pic from the 427 Cobra SuperSnake Twin Paxton Cobra with a better view
on the 1L DLR 4101 Plate ... it is not from the R&T Test, but the source is unkown for me

the other obersavtion is not about a 013 MFG Plate, but it is 5s319 (the 66 Prototyp) with
a 14B MFG 014 Plate .... as far as i know is 014 directly a Ford Manufactur Number

so i wonder a little bite about this, any ideas from you to these theme

The Car also appears on the Car & Driver Yearbook in a big jump

Hey together,

just for the case that somebody has interest in the finding the film

i tryed to do a research on e..y and google pic search for old 90´s
VHS Videos and find several ...

but i speak with Rich and he mentoid that the VHS with the searched scenes
are in a video that is 120 Minutes long.

this could be make it more difficult because
the most videos i found have a maximum running time of about 30-60 Minutes
the video can be a footage of some material recorded on a free VHS with 120 Minutes running time

i post some Pics of VHS Casettes, maybe someone remaind to have these
and make digital copys or no where to find free on the internet for more research

NOTE: ALL Videos run under 120 Minutes, but maybe somebody remainds something on these...

Running Time: 30 Minutes

Running Time: 58 Minutes

Running Time: 30 Minutes

Running Time: 80 Minutes

Running Time: 30 Minutes

Hello,

i found a "Motor Racing" Car Mag from Britain which is from 12 / 65

the Articel has a lot known PR Pics for 66 GT350 Production.

But one pic is very interesting...

we see a CSX3000 Cobra with a dark paint and a white paint over or under it ...
looks like a snake change his skin  ;)

The Articel is surley made befor 12/65
we see a 66 GT350,
the Car has to be a Carryover Car because the first GT350 based on 66 chassis
was made after 1965

Any thought are welcome

Greetings

Stephan from Germany
