Wanted to Buy / Re: 67/68 tach

Might want to consider a new electronic tachometer that is more accurate. I had my tach changed to an electronic by Mike at Orlando Mustang. They look and function great.

1965 GT350/R-Model / Re: 715 Holley
April 14, 2023, 11:23:52 AM
Drew,

Thanks for the offer. I did pick up a couple of power valves at the local Advanced Discount Auto Store. The kid behind the counter had no clue, so he said to come behind the counter and check in a box that was misc. Holley parts and found the power valves. I think I'm finally understanding the Holley's at my advanced age. Will see if I can get it dialed in this weekend then on to my 482 CJ with a Quick Fuels Q-Series 750. I think it actually could use a 850.

Thanks guys! Will be taking a road trip this Saturday for the National Mustang Day activities at the Valiant Air Command Museum in Titusville, FL. Going to take some parts and try to get the carb dialed in. I'm real close as most of the hesitation on mashing the gas is gone. Found that most of the issue is that the accelerator pump has a lag when the pump arm starts to move. Was not getting a shot with the initial arm movement so I've been backing off the adjustment a little at a time and Voila!

1965 GT350/R-Model / 715 Holley
April 12, 2023, 06:37:44 PM
Can anyone advise on the stock size of the discharge nozzle on a Holley 715? I misplaced my notes and can't remember what I started with. Think it may have been a #28, as I have an extra in the parts bin. Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Replicas and Tribute / Re: New headlight switch
March 26, 2023, 01:41:49 PM
Good point! My L.H front turn signal occasionally goes out and it is the firewall connection as you described. The headlights were flashing consistently until I opened the air vent. That seemed to solve the problem, but I know when the weather warms up in July for the drive to SAAC, that would be a concern, as I will have about 4-hrs of night driving.

I'm running sealed beam headlight and not even halogen headlights. I like the LED's but the price looks to be about $125 per bulb. I'd rather try to figure the root cause and try to fix that and run the FOMOCO etched sealed beams. Pulled the switch and no obvious problem other than being about 30 years old. It is a Motorcraft marked C5ZB 11652 A1. Any way to bench test the switch?

I assume the 4-headlamp switch would be the one use for a 69? The only issue is that the spacer is not included with the switch and modifications would need to be done to make it work in a 65/66 I assume.

NPD has some alternate bulbs, but I have no firsthand experience with any of them, so I'm hesitant to try them.

Replicas and Tribute / New headlight switch

Looking for recommendation for best headlight switch for a 65/66. Had a flashing headlight problem last week on my trip to the American Muscle Car Museum show in Melbourne, FL. Any firsthand knowledge would be appreciated.

Thank you.

GT40 - Original/Mk V / Re: Aluminum Honeycomb
March 17, 2023, 09:56:20 PM
Honeycomb building panels have been used for building facades since the 1960's or possibly the late 1950's. HH Robertson made honeycomb panels that would fit into curtainwall and storefront framing systems.

SAAC-48 / Re: Open Track at SAAC-48?

Will not be the Schenley Park street track for the Shelby Club. They will most likely use one of the layouts for Pittsburgh Motorsport Park in Kopel, PA.

Finally got the 07 back from the paint shop for the front clip restoration and KR style hood.  Worked out better than anticipated. The Cervini's hood is very good
quality and the fit was also very good. Had one low spot on the l.h. side hood pin as this did take a bit of work. I also made the vents functional by using standoffs to lower the water pans that fit under the vents. The only complaint is that the hood pin brackets do not clock the hood pins correctly. I've informed Cervini's of this issue and hope they make an adjustment to future brackets. I'm going to redo mine at some point, but for now just going to enjoy the 07!

Would recommend the Cervini's hood.

Appeals / Re: SW 240A rebuilder

Love it!

So, there is enough room for the fittings inside? Are you using bulkhead fittings at the inlet and outlet and (2) 90-degree fittings with a short hose? Did you take any photos of the process? This seems like the best solution for a car that is driven.

The quality of your build is second to none. Hope to finally see your car at the SAAC convention.

Appeals / Re: SW 240A rebuilder

I've been running Mallory 110 pumps for 20 years in my car. The problem is when they crap-out and they do, you are stranded, as the Carter HV mechanical pump will not pull fuel through the Mallory pump. The SW 240A specs to mount no higher than 24" above the fuel level and Mallory says to mount lower than the fuel tank, so they really do not recommend my set-up.

I like the idea of running the 240A because it was run in the day and I'm trying to stay era correct as reasonably as po$$ible. There is a rebuilder / supplier of
SW 240A's when you Google and they are located in New Hampshire. Owner is Nick Acton and the business is Acton Classic Enterprise. Price is $$$$ but the alternatives are equally $$$! I plan to call Acton Classic today and see what they have and can do. Anyone have any firsthand dealing with them?

I'll keep everyone informed and thanks to all on your input.

Appeals / Re: SW 240A rebuilder

Looks to me like one of the contacts on the pump is broken away and the contact on the switch is not connecting. The Bakelite type material that the pump connection is attached appears to be very brittle and one wire is broken away from the Bakelite connection.

Anyone have a good rebuilt SW 240A suitable for use with pump gas and up to 10% ethanol?

Thanks Bob, for all the help. The goal is to get a working 240A in my car for the trip from Daytona to Pittsburgh for the convention. (Did that drive in 2009 and I think I have one last long trip in me with the replica.) This plus installing my rebuilt buttontop mechanical pump was my upgrades intended for this year.
