Quote from: 6S1523 on January 08, 2022, 03:42:11 AMLOLOL, 6s1523, you have missed the whole train!!!Quote from: 69mach351w on December 19, 2021, 05:12:45 AM
@6S1523....I'm all-for getting 'em back on the road, just don't understand the logic behind what I was discussing at post #155.
Nice Project. Keep us informed on your journey.
Here's the thing, if you're worried about "original" in the sense that it has to be the way it left SA, then more than half the cars sold from 65-67 should piss you off, because the dealerships did what they had to in order to sell the car to the first owner.
My car left SA and went to High Performance Motors. Before it was sold to the first owner, the car had the Berry Plastiglass spoilered deck lid and end caps, Thunderbird tail lights. An 8-Track with speakers hacked into the doors, and Dual Quads installed. So if that's how the car was first sold, is it wrong to make the car that way? Well, no. Can you argue that the car should be "stock" base spec with 10-spokes? Sure. There are technically TWO correct "original" versions of my car before it was ever purchased by the original owner. After it was traded in and sold a second time all bets are off, and 157,000 miles later, enough years and miles have passed under the chassis that "original as it left SA" is a very expensive proposition.
So what's wrong with bolting on some improved parts 55 years later? Not a damn thing. And anyone who wants to argue that is going to get told where they can put their opinions. You guys can be staunch on your beliefs that these cars should be a certain way, but I'm willing to bet most of you guys can't even claim your own bodies are in well respected "original factory condition", most of us have some wear and tear that will prevent us from being "good as new". Why are we holding every example of these cars to unrealistic standards when we can't apply the same standards to ourselves.
Quote from: chris NOS on February 04, 2022, 03:35:54 AMYep ! You seen what happened to 6S1523, in the "1966" section.
Chris is a KR owner so i guess that's why he posted here ! i heard is not going to other forum like 65 GT 350 'cause "no chance" for newbie there![]()
just kidding ....
Quote from: ctann on February 03, 2022, 11:46:18 AMYep, Very well said and cool that you own an icon of a car. Enjoy itQuote from: 69mach351w on February 02, 2022, 07:27:11 PM
Now go stand in the corner with your dunce hat on.
Funny, we used to do exactly that at work when someone screwed up our testing environment, but HR told us we weren't allowed to do it anymore...
Thanks for the kind words. I'm "new"-ish to this group, in that I don't post very often, but am certainly aware that it is not the most welcoming place on the planet (I've had my KR for over 20 years, and the same online personalities still play out...). I'm certainly not new to the internet though, and so I don't let trolls, snipes and plain unfriendliness get my goat...
Anyway, 'nuff said...back to stories about cars!
(For anyone interested, my KR is currently in the shop getting a mechanical makeover - steering box, PS pump and Ram, Master cylinder and booster all getting rebuilt. She'll be all priced up for The Great Race in June, Rhode Island to North Dakota).
Quote from: shelbydoug on January 16, 2022, 11:16:18 AMLol, that's the ones they go after. Most_______people love landscape tools. Fill in the blank with whatever you're thinking. I can't say it, I'll be in trouble
Use an unmarked enclosed trailer and put shovels, rakes and other yard tools in racks on the outside.
It will look like a landscapers trailer as long as you aren't pulling it with a Lincoln Navigator.

This is an interesting shot from 1966(?) or so. Jim Harrell with his A Sedan Mustang, tow vehicle 1957 Ford wagon. Jim raced
a '69 Mustang in A Sedan and a few Trans Am races in 1969. Was F Ford National Champion in 1971. Quite an interesting career
in motorsports, crew chief in Can Am, Formula B and more. He completed continuation Cobras at his shop in the Carolina's (Nostalgia
Motors) early 2000's for Carroll Shelby. Has built a nice selection of street rods. Pretty amazing guy.
Quote from: honker on January 21, 2022, 11:51:39 AMI remember these photos and I do believe it was forum 1.
Didn't search the thread too hard, this one might have been here before, maybe forum 1 ?

I know the original owner of one. His son says just 220 built and 75 out there found. Had 25K miles most from being towed to the dragway when the car was returned to the street in the early 90s. Blue, blue 4 speed bench seat. original 1963 plate is on the car.
Quote from: Bob Gaines on January 17, 2022, 12:55:42 PMThanks for clarification. I was just going by the title of the YT video with the year 2022 in the title.Quote from: 69mach351w on January 17, 2022, 12:34:35 PMLewayne has owned that car for more then a few years so it is not any kind of a quick flip.Quote from: gt350hr on January 13, 2022, 01:16:30 PMYou mean Lewayne's car. But what I'm trying to wrap my mind around is why would Lewayne Musselwhite buy the car just to turn around and sell it? Is he hoping that the auction will net him a huge profit? Did he buy the car from Jerry Mendez at a very low price and Mendez knows that Musselwhite is trying to make a huge profit? Hmmmm.
There were two tire sizes used . The 750/850 Casler on the steel wheel fit the stock wheel opening and the larger 8.90-15 Casler capped Goodyear needed the reworked wheel opening like on Jerry's car because of it's larger diameter and width. I don't know who did the work on his car.
"I" ran ( on 6S240) an M&H that was wide but didn't need wheel well rework "in the day" . 6S477 has mildly reworked wheel openings now for modern Goodyear 10x28 tires
Quote from: GT350DAVE on January 17, 2022, 02:49:36 PMWhew... thanks for the clarification. Because when the gentleman said he "sold" the serial number, I thought, "surely he knew what he was doing".
The person who got the 1967 Shelby from the junk yard and turned it into a coffee table is a SAAC member and made sure the Registrar got the Vin. number and details. The car was white originally and had at least one color change. Yes, someone did rebody the car and it is in the Registry.
