I purchased a 66 mustang fastback as a shell with what I assume is the original 289 and a cast iron T10. Im building it as an R Model tribute with a stroked motor with modern internals so it should be in the neighborhood of 350-400HP. My question is, should I go ahead and upgrade to a toploader or is the T10 sufficient for the modern motor's power?

The original question was for instructions on installing the plexiglass side window frames. I never saw anyone post instructions or a definite source for instructions. I'm interested because I bought a set of the frames from a SAAC member but they didn't have any instructions for installation. If anyone has a source for instructions that would be great.

When you say 428, are you talking about an FE engine, or a stroker 351 Windsor engine?

It's an FE built on a 428 block bored .0060 over and stroked.

So can you provide specific info on the formulation that came out on the dark end of the spectrum? The color on the car looks pretty good.

My 67 mustang came to me with a 351 and what I assume is a C4. I have had a 428 built with a stroker package, roller rockers and lifters, aluminum heads, etc so I'm guessing the power and torque will be in the neighborhood of 450. I'm planning to stay with an auto trans and Im not going to be racing the car so nothing exotic is needed but I like the idea of something that has overdrive. What trans would you guys suggest?

Looking at online photos of Caspian Blue cars, you might be onto something. In some of the LMC photos the car looks lighter than the finished color but that could just be the lighting. If I don't find anything else I may shoot for something between the two.

Well third times a charm. I got the following response from LMC when I emailed asking if the color was Guardsman Blue. If anyone has a contact for the Dockery Ford family, I'll send them a note to see if they know.

"Im not sure, that was restored along time ago under a different restoration manager. I dont believe its Guardsmens, it was darker than that"

Not surprised to hear that they lightened the car to the edge of safety. I just read a story about the Pensky/Donohue trans am camero where they lightened the 67 car with acid dipping to the point that they had to install a full cage roll bar to stiffen it back up (a first in trans am). They won 10 of the 13 races and when tech inspectors realized what they had done they were told to never bring the car back to a race. Then in 68 they fielded two cars painted to match and would run the new car through tech inspection then drive it back to their shop area, swap the number, and run the same car back through tech inspection. The second car was of course the acid dipped 67 and it easily outperformed the new car.

I posted this question previously but the title didn't really match the request so thought I would repost. I'm looking for info on the color of the Mark Donohue R-model car. In some photos it looks like guardsman blue but in others it looks like a darker blue. If anyone out there has info I'd really appreciate hearing from you. The current plan for my R model tribute car is to duplicate the color of the Donohue car. I've used the "contact us" feature on the LMC web site but no response.

speaking of rear mount batteries, what size are those carriage bolts that hold it down? 1/4" ?   3/16" ?

Saw this on ebay. Looks similar to photos I've seen of originals. No luck finding currently available reproductions but maybe someone else will have better luck. Hope anyone who finds a suitable cover will post the source and part numbers.

Just realized I probably should have started with another question. My current thought is to paint my R model tribute project to represent the Mark Donohue car as restored by LMC. My question is "was the Donohue car Guardsman Blue?"  I have asked about the paint code on the LMC web site and got no reply.

That color looks darker than "Guardsman Blue" but looks lighter than "Nightmist Blue". It looks amazing but what color is it? Were you trying to duplicate an original color?
