In my opinion, Carlisle has turned into a largely Friday and Saturday show. Most people bug out after Saturday and crowds are light on Sunday and a lot of vendors have already packed up and left. I would say Friday is the best day if you're looking for things before they get picked over. Saturday draws the highest crowd.

I always look forward to the next update of The Coralsnake website, almost as much as I look forward to an email from SAAC HQ announcing the availability of the next volume of SAAC Registries.   ;)

True story.  Salesman barely gave him the time of day, stated something like, "Do you know how much this car costs?", basically blew him off.  Herbie came back with cash and bought the car.  He has stated something along the lines of, "The car would never mean as much to anyone else as it does to me", as it was his first big purchase after he started making money as a musician.  Gross oversimplification of the story, but basically that is what happened.

IIRC, the 260 cars were rated 260 horsepower with a 4V carburetor.  I was under the impression that the 260 engine as used in early Cobras came with a mechanical cam as well as a higher compression ratio than the garden variety 260 of the day.

This might be apples to oranges, but many years ago I owned a 1974 Mustang II that the PO had installed a 351W into. I tried many different carburetors on it back then, being a teenager working at a local speed shop in the DC area. Finally happened upon a Holley 600 DP that a local fellow had been using on a small block Vega that he drag raced. The choke had been removed, including the air horn, it was painted orange and just looked ratty.  That carburetor was just RIGHT. I bolted it on, set the idle speed and never fiddled with it again.

The expensive issue is going to be that the COBRA aluminum intakes can be fragile on the rear two bolt holes and often we see repaired manifolds were those tabs have been cracked or even snapped off.

In order to use the current supplied cork ends you are going to need to compress them and I don't know how that you do that without clamping them down with the manifold?

If you want to risk that, that's up to you but that can be a VERY expensive mistake to damage that intake and I'll also point out that the rear water ports are where the gaskets like to leak sometimes internally where you don't see it.

You CAN use the cork ends but all things considered it is MUCH safer to trash them and just RTV the ends. However, it's your choice and neither is a mandatory decision. It's just you who has to regret not going the safer route.

+ 1 on ditching the cork end seals and going with RTV.  I've noticed that the aftermarket intake manufacturers (Edelbrock, Weiand) tell you to discard the cork end seals and use RTV in their instructions.
