Replicas and Tribute / Re: My 65 GT 350 clone
January 03, 2026, 08:25:44 PM
Thank you fellas. This car will provide me with many hours of enjoyment working on it as well as driving it. More updates/pictures to follow.

It's such a nice (not necessarily highly valuable) car that I'm conflicted as how to proceed. As of right now, I do NOT think I'll do the following that I had initially intended:
A) put the GT 350 aluminum plaque on the taillight panel
B) cut the dash for the oil and tach gages and
C) install the the vintage Webber system.

There's nothing better than a set of properly tuned Webbes, in performance or the visual WOW factor under the hood, but I'm partial to the appearance of the conventional 1965 GT 350 intake and carb setup.

T code, now running a 5 bolt HIPO 289, cast iron T10, 9" Detroit Locker, M1 override traction bars, Konis, lowered A Arms.

Used extra/leftover ORIGINAL Shelby parts:
S1MS small COBRA intake, Buddy Bar valve covers, S1MS T oil pan, 1" sway bar, export brace, 66 Impact tagged lap belts, and a 1966 over the counter wood steering wheel.

Reproduction parts:
Hood, Cragar wheels, service replacement Holley LIST 3259 carb, try Y headers/Branda exhaust, quick steering idler/pitman arms, Montecarlo bar, and hipo fan.

Went a bit overboard but put to good use a bunch of leftover parts I had collected over the years.

Does the 1966 over the counter wood steering wheel normally have the black tabs where the spokes meet the wooden rim?

Thank you guys. I got Mike Miles' phone number and endorsement from Jesse Bourdeau three days ago and left a voice message but no response as of yet. I'm certain he's who I'll be working with when he does. Paul.

Any responses to question #2?

A friend from Europe has asked me to help him fix his Sebring gear aluminum T10M transmission that pops out of third gear. I know that's a common issue with the T10 and seem to remember a part sourced from a modern transmission(maybe a Muncie) that corrects that issue.
1) Is the improved/modern component that fixes the issue called a hook slider?
2) Who is the current T10 guru and how can we make contact with him?

Can you confirm the seatbelts appropriate for a Feb 66 car would be Ray Brown or Impact, chrome or cad plated hardware, long or short hook? Paul.
