Up For Auction / Re: 9F03R481878 on BAT
December 04, 2024, 09:03:20 AM
I think that it's great the members of this group try to inform and educate both buyers and sellers even if the seller doesn't listen. I attended an auction that was near my location and saw vehicles that could be described as sketchy at best. A member of my car club has had to fix cars people have bought at auctions.

Thank you SAAC for helping organizing SAAC-49 I was able to attend the Simeone Museum. This was on my bucket list also. Great collection of automobiles. If you are in the mood for a cheesesteak check out Phillip's Steak nearby. Not fancy but recommended by someone working at Simeone.

You might want to check that answer on Halotron being illegal to use. Still for sale and used in the power plants.

I purchased a Halotron fire extinguisher for my Shelby several years ago. Great for electrical fires without leaving a residue that must be cleaned up quickly if using a standard extinguisher. - Kevin

You are correct vtgt500 about descending vultures. My wife and I had a will created years ago and we are in our 50's. My Shelby is to be sold.

SAAC-49 / Re: Great time at SAAC 49
August 01, 2024, 01:05:58 PM
This was my wife's and I third SAAC event. Good time was had by all. We really enjoyed the Friday evening. I finally got to check out the Simeone Museum. Always great to see a large collection of Shelby automobiles and talk to the owners. People who have owned their cars for 50 years. The roads were not much to be desired in NJ. -Kevin

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Slash
July 18, 2024, 08:57:58 AM
I like it. It only has a few Shelby bits on it not a full-blown fake. I've seen him perform in a few different bands over the years. I went to a car show in Manchester, CT and was beat by a kid placed in my show class with a fake.

As you stated a regular spare tire will not fit over the Brembo caliper that's why I carry a GT500 as a spare. It sticks up higher in the trunk than a normal spare would but I travel to other states and don't want to be stuck.

When I purchased my Shelby GT new it only came with the tire inflator kit and compressor. I installed Brembo brakes on mine and put a GT500 wheel and tire in the spare tire area. Not a perfect fit but better than nothing. I also added a jack. There is a section in the forum for our cars if you have any additional questions.

I have State Farm Insurance for my 2008 Shelby GT with an agreed value. Some of the insurance is removed during the winter months. My agent was also able to offer me Hagerty through State Farm but the cost would have been more with little added benefit on my opinion. The prices are reasonable at the moment for your great choices of Ford powered cars. - Kevin

Are there going to be any wall hanging SAAC-49 posters for sale this year like previous years? Looking to add another one to my collection of attended events. Thank you in advance. - Kevin

SAAC-49 / Re: Car Show
March 19, 2024, 07:49:31 AM
As stated by Macstang check out photos from previous shows. Someone stated in a thread for SAAC 48 that there was 120+ cars registered for the popular car show. There is a good mix of old and newer models on display. You should see cars that you've only read about if you haven't attended events like this before. This will be my third SAAC event having attended 44 and 48 I had a great time. The swap meet isn't going to be Carlisle level but there are items to be had. Great bunch of people. - Kevin

Replicas and Tribute / Re: New 67 "Shelbys"

It also states that "Each rolling chassis will however be issued with a Manufacturers Certificate of Origin containing a chassis number, which will assist the customer with the process of registering their vehicle at their local DMV". So no VIN number. I know that some states are better with this than others. What year would this be registered as and would it then have to comply with emissions with that state? You might also have to show where this drivetrain was purchased from. Very cool cars and I wouldn't mind having one on my garage but not for that amount of money when I spent a whole lot less for my Shelby new. - Kevin

The confirmation Hampton Inn emailed me said I have the SAAC special rate July 24th - 28th.  (Checking out the 28th).  No additional costs more than the SAAC special rate.  Call them back and double check your reservation.

Thank you for responding. They were able to fix the issue. The girl that answered stated that the same thing had happened a couple of days before. - Kevin
