Just a newbie but, 82 years old signing in for the first time. Always wondered what became of my 65 GT350 (number around 50 as I recall)that I sold to Don McNeil , Columbus, Ohi about 1981. I do know who owns my 1965 Cobra CSX2401.

Just purchased two items, could someone pick a blue binder Cobra Ferrari Wars for me?

With the 1st edition, it was available is either a blue or red binder and the customer could choose which color depending whether they were a Cobra or Ferrari fan. Did Schoen do the same with the reprint edition?

Thanks A-Snake... that video shows an "outdoor" "ember" fire which Element's website says is best extinguished with water? I would imagine there are many situations one could be pro Element or con Element, but for the average (if such a thing)fire on one of our prized Mustangs, this extinguisher seems well suited.. hopefully we never have to prove it one way or another.

Does $857k seem a little light for CSX2540?  About right?  I would have guessed over $900k.

The engine number was stamped on the Shelby serial number tag on at least some 289 Cobras.

Typically, the Cobra footbox tag began at the CSX22xx mark. (The beginning of the third contact of cars.) AC Cars Ltd stamped the VIN number on the tag and Shelby American stamped the engine number on the tag. Some Cobras below CSX22xx had footbox tags added at a later time. Perhaps some stated required an easily found and displayed VIN.

289 Cobras above CSX2201 used a Stewart Warner two-piece tach. Besides the tach head in the dash there was a sending unit mounted on the firewall. Many over the years have failed. Usually it is the sending unit that fails not the tach head. Until recently the only option was finding a one piece tach unit that was similar to the original tach. Some were close BUT the tach face is different, the chrome bezel does not match the speedometer bezel and the needle may differ.
 
If you have an original non-working tach and sending unit, Mark Olson at Accutach Co. in San Jose can help www.accutach.com molson@accutach.com  Mark can determine if your tach is good and if the sender can be repaired. In the event the sender can not be repaired, he can use a TachMatch that replaces the sender and calibrates your tach.

If you only have the original tach BrianLaine@aol.com in Arlington, WA can verify if your tach is working and provide a TachMatch that replaces the missing sender.

Wouldn't the HiPo's also have a VIN Stamped on it?  Did SAI Stamp any Vin's on them?

Cobras did not have VIN stamped engines.

Technically it is not street legal .Of course your need a license plate. Uncover the headlights ,add some type of muffler to the exhaust and as long as the turn signal and brake lights work you are good to go to the cruise night without fear of a ticket .

And windshield wipers, and tires for highway use.

The emblem on the left is the C3RA-14225-A used on 427 Cobras. The emblem onthe right is the S1CS-19523-C used on 289 Cobras from CSX2133 to CSX2589.

I attended Bondurant's 4 day school in 1994. Who knows, I may have driven that car. These cars took a beating! Sometimes multiple students would share one car for a session on one of the accident avoidance exercises because it was so hard on the cars. It consisted of deliberately spinning the car while locking up the brakes.  A number of students did some off roading.
