Dark Blue GT350.  Can't beat a late November car show with sun and temperatures in the upper 70s.

Quote from: Corey Bowcutt on October 28, 2025, 07:56:27 AMThank you.  One more question will the Shelby's be parked together or will we be scattered through out the field?

Corey

I don't know how many are attending.  The past two years, it's been myself and another '67 GT350, we have not had a group turnout in several years.  If you're trailering your car from the hotel, when you enter the grounds and come to the first guard shack, turn left there and all along on your right is room to unload and park trailers.  I try and get there as early as I can, get offloaded and parked, and then walk back out to get the entry packet which is in another area.  It fills up in a hurry with so many who live local.  I try and be in line by about 6:30-6:45 as the place fills up quickly.  Got lucky one year and Ray was directing cars and he saw my GT350 and had me park in the "celebrity" lot which was nice.

Quote from: Corey Bowcutt on October 24, 2025, 06:43:57 AMAny idea what the VIP package gets you?

Corey

I don't do the VIP package anymore, it wasn't worth it, in my opinion, as it is per person if you're not coming alone.  The $200 fee is usually a light breakfast like bagels/donuts, one t-shirt, lunch (BBQ/pizza usually), meet and greet, which doesn't seem to happen and all-day access to the "VIP area" which gives you someplace to sit where it's quiet and indoors, but with so many cars to see, most people are out walking.  Ray is all over the place during the show and is always happy to talk to people and sign books, etc.  If the donation to the Autism charity is important to you, then by all means do so.  As for the hotel, don't know about the parking, situation, I'm in the area and come up day of the show with my car on the trailer, and I think most people are locals.  The hotel is not even 5 minutes from the show, depending on the line of cars.  Last year they opened up early due to the number of cars there before 7am, the year prior they waited until 7am and the lines of cars to get in were long as there is only one gate to enter/exit.

The 13th annual Americarna show is November 22, the show has been moved up a week to try and attract more people to attend, it had been held on Thanksgiving weekend.  Register online before 11/1 for the early bird rate of $25, after that it is $30.  VIP package is $200/person.  Be nice to have more than the usual 3 or 4 Shelby cars to offset the 70-80 Corvettes of Queen City Corvette Club who take up prime real estate in the best lot.  A whole lot of jean shorts and New Balance sneakers in that crowd! Cars start lining up way before 7am, and last year there were several hundred entries.  Location is the Trane HQ in Davidson NC, a beautiful campus to hold a show with plenty of room for cars and also trailer parking.

Due to restrictions with publishing photos on this forum, and having multiple photos and videos from this weekend's SAAC Carolinas and Friends Spring Fling, I have created a Facebook page for North and South Carolina SAAC Region members:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/987054833213642

Between this forum and Facebook for those who use it, we will be better able to communicate with the group members and not miss anyone for news and events.

It was a 25 degree start to the day, and it stayed sunny and chilly for another great event.  I'd guess around 400+ cars cycled through the day, but I think the cold kept people away as last year was well over 600.  I represented with #01609, and was joined by #01680, a previously unknown '67, a beautiful dark green GT350.  It had been apart for a really long time, but is now back operational and the owner did a fantastic restoration job on this car and I hope he joins us for other events.  As usual, I was surrounded by every Camaro and Corvette in NC.  Next year, the show will be moved forward one week to see if more cars come out vice two days after Thanksgiving.

I'll be going, they haven't had many 65-70 Shelby's the past 2-3 years, I'm usually pretty lonely.  I was a bit disillusioned last year, the alleged new VIP lot which is between the old HQ building and the new one, filled up within seconds of them opening the main gate at 7am and without them monitoring of who was parking there.  I paid for that and ended up way in the back 40 with genpop. The old building was under renovations and the new place with hospitality, was quite small and did not allow for spouses unless paying double entry fee ($400).  The Corvette people must get there overnight, they have taken over the entire top lot, they had about 70 cars last year.  The former VIP lot where we have parked before, is now the "celebrity"/sponsor lot and they barricade that now.  If I recall, they had over 600 cars last year, so it keeps getting bigger and bigger.

There are several behind the scenes videos on YouTube of the collection, including one, where everyone had a cellphone/camera going at all times!  Their facility, their rules, still a neat place to visit.

The story of this video, I was researching '67 stuff and on a non-automotive Michigan history page, a man posted it.  He said he'd been going through some unknown and unnamed boxes of crap and when sorting, he found the VHS tape, which is in good shape, played it and transferred it into digital form for upload to YouTube.  He has no affiliation with the tape so no knowledge, other than he thought it looked cool, which was a correct assessment!

When passing Philadelphia, definitely worth crossing the Delaware into the city near Phila. Airport and visiting the Simeone Automobile Collection.  They have one of the original Daytona Coupes, plus a couple of GT40s along with other historic race cars.  A couple hours is sufficient to see it all.  While in Wilmington NC, visiting the Battleship USS North Carolina is well worth it.

Thanks, I had actually found an old photo with a billboard and phone number on some obscure website that had nothing to do with cars!  I find information in the weirdest places.
