Swap Meet / Re: HiPo 289 flywheel 5C11 for trade

That was our initial plan to use the standard pistons and sleeve the cylinders.  We've contacted several well known machine shops and they are all refusing to sleeve 8 cylinders for risk of cracking the block.  The block is the original VIN stamped block to the car. If it cracks, I would not be interested in continuing the thoroughbred project, not to mention the loss of value to the car. This not be an easy decision to make.

I was just schooled by our revered retired parts man.  over sized pistons were not offered over .003 but over sized piston ring were. No oversized service pistons will limit my options but at least finding any originals can be ruled out.

I haven't seen any but I do see .020 and 0.030 NOS piston rings for sale on EB, so the pistons must also have been offered as service parts.

Perhaps a long shot.  Im in the middle of a 66 HP Conv thoroughbred project and am in urgent need of a set of 8 NOS or nice OEM HP 289 pistons that are .020. If anyone has a set or leads on some please message me.  I have an nos set of 8 std HP pistons I can trade if needed.

In the middle of a thoroughbred project with the engine apart and am hunting for a very early NOS HP 289 clutch pressure plate with light green springs. Part number C3OZ-7563-A. These were sold individually or part of a Cobra clutch kit with the clutch disc. I do have several equally cool nos parts for 65-66 that ai could trade if needed (including NOS Cobra engine dress up kit with nos HP distributor, cap, plug wires and Cobra medallions. One of several I could offer for part trade).

Parts For Sale / Re: NOS MUSTANG pin letter sets
September 25, 2025, 12:53:00 AM
I had not heard of "Engineering numbers" appearing on the back side of the trunk/fender MUSTANG letters.  After reading the last two posts, I had to remove the same letter "N" from my original late 66 SJ Hi-po GT Conv to have a look.  It does have 4 small numbers that appear to be 5640 as said in the previous posts. (Photo attached). I have revised my ad and removed "Assembly line" from the description.

As an additional resource, I've posted a photo of a set of the same letter set Ford offered in dark blue and white boxes in the late 70's or early 80's era (not for sale).  We see there are no engineering numbers but are genuine Ford parts. Just wanted to display the follow up for any potential buyers to prove my parts listed are genuine Ford parts.  Good luck finding an earlier set.

Parts For Sale / NOS MUSTANG pin letter sets
September 21, 2025, 09:49:42 PM
I'm listing an NOS pair MUSTANG pin letter sets.  Sorry, there are no Ford boxes or FoMoCo envelopes.  Reproduction letters are filled in on the backsides.  You can see there are hollow pockets on all the letters on these ones.  These also come with all the grommets.  $850 plus shipping for a pair or $425 for just one set.
