Cars For Sale / 1969 BOSS 429 MUSTANG
November 12, 2025, 11:54:09 AM
One-Owner, All Matching Numbers, First-Time Public Offering!

Unbelievably rare, fully documented, and offered to the public for the very first time. This one-owner California Boss 429 is entirely matching numbers, factory-original, and officially listed in the Boss 429 Registry.

Offered here is an extraordinary 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 — an untouched California original, meticulously maintained, and historically significant. This car has never been publicly offered before. Purchased directly from its original owner in Southern California earlier this summer, it has remained in the same hands from new until now. Its full 56-year life has been spent in Southern California, making it an unbroken black plate California car from day one.

Special-ordered and delivered through Culver City Ford, this Boss 429 is a documented one-of-one in its delivery history — the only Royal Maroon Boss 429 ever sold through that dealership. Accompanied by an exceptional archive of original documentation, this car remains a pristine example of Ford's legendary homologation program.

The Boss 429 was Ford's bold response to NASCAR's horsepower wars in the late 1960s. To qualify the massive 429ci semi-hemi V8 for competition, Ford had to produce at least 500 street cars — giving birth to one of the most exotic muscle cars ever made.

Because the engine could not fit a standard Mustang assembly line, Kar Kraft hand-built each chassis with relocated front shock towers, reinforced frame rails, and suspension modifications, making every Boss 429 a true hand-crafted homologation special.

Performance Highlights:

429ci semi-hemi NASCAR V8 with crescent-shaped combustion chambers
Rated 375 horsepower for insurance; actual output far higher
Engine designed for high-RPM durability and immense power potential
Toploader 4-speed manual transmission and 9-inch Traction-Lok rear end
This Boss 429 retains all its original Kar Kraft modifications and factory-unique engineering details:

Kar Kraft-modified chassis: relocated front shock towers, reinforced frame rails
Trunk-mounted battery for improved weight distribution
Special Boss 429 front suspension for high-RPM stability
NASCAR-spec semi-hemi 429 V8
Toploader 4-speed manual and 9-inch Traction-Lok rear axle
Special-order Royal Maroon exterior with unique matching interior
Original factory decals and data plates fully intact
Authentically preserved, hand-built homologation special

Some collector highlights:

9FO2Z172919
KK# 1610

All matching numbers: stamped engine, transmission, and rear end - Perkins verified with documentation from Kar Kraft
Single-owner provenance until summer 2025
First-time public offering
Original California black plates with dealer plate bracket intact
Delivered new through Culver City Ford, CA — never left the state
One of only 850 Boss 429s built in 1969; one of 122 in Royal Maroon
Only Boss 429 ever sold through Culver City Ford — one-of-one provenance
Listed in the Boss 429 Registry
Elite Marti Report
Comprehensive archive book including: original purchase invoice, build sheets, shipping invoices, registration history, and maintenance records
Full bumper-to-bumper service completed August 2025 by our factory-authorized Shelby American dealer facility, ensuring factory correctness, reliability and drivability
Runs and drives like new — perfect for national-level show competition or occasional enjoyment on the road. Meticulously preserved its entire life, this Boss 429 is a true blue-chip investment with unmatched rarity and provenance.

Original features and options:

Interior: Deluxe black bucket seats with console, original carpet, trim, and headliner
Optional equipment: factory AM radio, functional heater, power steering, power front disc brakes, tinted glass
Exterior: correct BOSS 429 (only) hood scoop, Boss 429 badging
Wheels & tires: factory steel wheels with Boss 429 center caps, period-correct Goodyear Polyglas tires
Exhaust: original dual system with factory routing and hangers
This Boss 429 is the ultimate combination of rarity, originality, and provenance. With one-owner California history, first-time availability, Boss 429 Registry listing, and complete documentation, it represents far more than a muscle car — it is a once-in-a-lifetime collector's acquisition.

Few 1969 Boss 429s ever come to market, and almost none remain tied to their original owner. This combination of provenance, exclusivity, and factory originality makes this car a true blue-chip investment, destined to anchor a world-class collection and appreciate in both historical and financial significance.

A true once-in-a-lifetime Boss 429 — original, factory-unique, Kar Kraft-engineered, and collector-grade scarce.

Up For Auction / Re: Richmond Auctions Results - Day 1

I just received word that the buyer of the 1970 BOSS 9 car was unaware of the fact that it was built/restored as a static show car meaning the car has absolutely no fluids in any of the systems and it was built to be pushed in and out of a trailer and that's it.

I was aware of this when I was there, but there was nothing on the placard in front of the car that indicated that it would not/could not start/run/drive

I was there early Friday morning. They allowed me to walk around before the general public got there. I walked all three buildings with Dave Wise who is a noted Mopar expert and does the wise reports

A lot of things that I saw going on, I stuck around until after the event started until about 11 AM

We were doing photo shoots all day today for new cars coming into inventory and I did not go back even though it's 30 miles from me, but I was being updated by my assistant throughout the event

The money that was being paid for cars and for memorabilia, etc., was incredible - I'm sure this event will set a record for a number of different reasons

I am going to go for just a day to look around - I usually meet lots of interesting & cool people at these types of auctions (one-off) and some even become clients

This auction company in my professional opinion has done a wonderful job on the advertising and visuals of the event - Gonna be some big $$$$$ changing hands.................

Ron,

It certainly appears that Brian is willing and capable of organizing special cars at special events.
He was involved in getting the three cars to at Indiana SAAC Fall Classic four years ago, and now again to The Quail, in California.

Did you try to reach out to Brian?

I understand #0100 isn't going to make it to SAAC-50 - bummer.

However, I'm aware that #0131 and #0139 are attending.

Will they be displayed together somewhere special, with a good backdrop, for those attending to get some good photos of the two one-offs together - the black top and the white top? Has there been any strategy or communication to organize such an awesome opportunity?"
